Basically even checking down Burrow couldnt get the ball out fast enough.
Our defense is fast and they were all over him like flies on stink.
And honestly, that's without Lawrence providing much of a pass rush. I was hoping that he'd go off this year with Parsons drawing so much attention, but so far I've been disappointed. He's still very tough against the run, but I was hoping for more pass rush from him.
That might sound a little petty considering how our defense did in this game, but we need players like him to step up if we want the defense to get to the next level.
Just happy to see contributions from so many guys, along with Parsons.
Jimmy loved two traits in particular on defense, speed and play making. This defense has some of that.
And if Parsons doesn't play, this pass rush goes back to invisible.
We must protect Parsons.
Lawrence had a few good plays but he has declined significantly and will be gone at the end of the year. He was even boasting sacks over the lion and he does not even have a sack even with all the opportunities with the lion hunting. He will be gone. He is done.
He's playing a different role, setting the edge against the run and taking on double teams. If he was an edge rusher, you would see something different
He is playing inside a lot on passing downs, so that's fair, but I've also seen him at end not getting much penetration. Maybe like you said, his responsibilities are different, but when he's on the edge, I expect him to be an edge rusher.
Right now, I think Sam Williams is our best chance at finding another pass rusher, but he's a ways away from being that player right now. He showed a little something in the few snaps he received, but we do need a complementary piece. Right now, Parsons is providing most of the disruption and the rest are feeding off that. ... But at least they are feeding.
The team that wins the line of scrimmage wins 99% of the time.
