Interesting developments at CB - Carr to RCB?

Broddius is breaking something I found interesting that Dallas might be considering Carr at RCB and Scandrick over to the main LCB position. It certainly makes sense. The move would be made to help Carr gain his confidence back. Also, Claiborne who has surgery to repair torn petaller tendon from Oct also had his other pateller repaired. So had surgery on both knees. It might take little longer to get back but who knows maybe he is healthy and shows something.

Who?

I think he's gone if he doesn't take a paycut.

CB is then our #1 priority in the draft I think.

The signings of McFadden and Hardy have reduced RB and DL as a need with the first choice.

Safety to me is also a position we could upgrade, too.

Not so fast. RB is definitely not squared up. Gurley needs to be wearing a star. If we actually go into the season with McFadden as the unequivocal #1, I'm calling 8-8 faster than captain obvious can fly in to the rescue.

which should help dallas in negotiations because Carr can't expect to receive close to $13 mill being right cornerback and not even best CB on team now. On positive note he played RCB in KC so I am hoping we see bump in production from him.

It likely wont change anything from a negotiation stand point for Carr or his agent...Either he'll take one or he wont, at this point they seem to be calling the Cowboys bluff that theyre willing to part ways if he wont.

One question. why would any player or his agent, renegotiate a pay cut when they don't have too? the idea that they should do what's right is a joke.some of you guys need to live in the real world.

They could negotiate a paycut to be more than what he would get on the open market if released but less than what he gets with current contract.

Because if he's cut, he's not going to make as much as he would have if he just takes a pay cut with us. He and his agent have to realize this.

The real world is that Carr hasn't left himself in the best position for other teams to rush to pay him more than he deserves. If it's good enough for Free to be reasonable, it should be good enough for Carr. Nobody's totally expecting it to happen or anything of the sort -- it very well may not. No harm in the team seeking a solution, though. No one player should expect more than he's earned. Maybe the real world isn't one where a sense of entitlement, regardless of the failure to produce should be the case.

I doubt it. We lost Moore, Claiborne sucks when he's healthy let alone coming off patellar tendon repair.. So now we cut the only other guy that at least stays healthy?

He's due to make a billion dollars. For a corner who's ranked like close to dead last in the league. His agent said he will not take a pay cut. You think the Cowboys will just say, oh well?

There is more than a good chance the Cowboys #1 pick is going to be a corner. Then Carr can go play for the Commanders like every other castoff.

Did they? I honestly did not notice that. Were they putting Scandrick on the Left when they were doing that?
Did you notice how Scandrick performed on the left side when that did happen?

Great question.

I don't remember the specifics, I just remember Carr being on that side often in some games late last season or in the playoffs.

True and keeps his nose clean, literally. remember scandrick is on the moly/drug program.

There's probably some merit to the whole draft scenario.

If the Cowboys select a corner in one of the first 3 rounds I could see that influencing the decision on if Carr is retained for the season.

Better me than Mo

I don't know why people still think the Carr contract is a negotiation. The guy has a signed contract; it isn't his fault the Cowboys were stupid then, just like it isn't Lee's fault he gets hurt. He may decide to take a cut or he may refuse to take a cut; that's his right. Dallas isn't automatically going to cut him to save that money because they will save money, but they won't save all of it, and they'll still be looking for a starting CB. Even if he's overpaid, so what? If he's the starting CB and the next guy is a dropoff, then why cut him unless you are going to really use that money for something great that will help the team win this year.

Carr doesn't need to make anywhere near the money somewhere else that he has here. Between what the Cowboys will have to pay him for cutting him, along with a moderate contract somewhere else, he'll still make big money, more than anyone is willing to sign him for. The only real negotiation is if he wants to stay here, he can maybe take a small cut, a wee cut, still be paid more than we think he deserves, but if we hit a number that equals what he and his agent think is tops that he'd make between a new contract elsewhere and what we have to pay him anyway, then he'd probably accept it if he really wanted to stay here.

But to think he'll automatically be cut is silly. It's not like we're going to use that savings to sign Murray or Hardy or Suh or anyone still out there who will immediately make us better. At this point, we're looking at the draft and minor role players to improve the team, so how important is saving some money by cutting Carr if he's still among the top 3 corners on the team?

You shouldn't cut your CB to spite your Face.
