Here are some December-related Romo stats --

-- As measured by passer rating, he has posted his four worst games and eight of his nine worst games in December. His only pre-December game with a passer rating below 72.8 came in that comeback win against Buffalo in 2007. We did win one other of his worst games, though, beating the Giants on the road in December 2006 despite Romo's 58.1 rating.

-- As measured by completion percentage, he has posted his three worst games and six of his seven worst games in December. The only non-December game of that bunch -- and the only win -- came against Miami in 2007, when he completed only 14 of 29 passes but threw two TD passes and had a 92.0 rating. The other six games were all December losses, and they all were among his nine lowest-rating games mentioned above.

-- As measured by yards per attempt, Romo's seven worst games all came in December. The only win in that bunch -- and the only one of the seven that doesn't fall into both of the two groups mentioned above -- came against Carolina in 2007, when he averaged only 6.12 yards per attempt but went 28-for-42 (66.7 percent) for 257 yards and an 81.2 rating in a 20-13 win.

Think about the bolded part for a second. That stat is amazing. I think a lot of us take Romo for granted considering a 72 rating is about what Quincy Carter gave us for his best season. Carter was the best of the worst Cowboy QBs.

In before this thread gets locked for turning into a "Quincy didn't suck" thread.

Here's the weird part. I was just looking at Bledsoe's 2005 stats and 3 of his 4 worst games of the year came in December of that year. I also checked out Testaverde's stats in 2004. His worst games came in November and December.

It ain't just Romo. We just suck late in the year.

the best way to get off to a good start is to have Felix play the entire opening drive,i dont see it happening though.

Very interesting but I would love to know what the norm is....
What is the average 1st quarter performance from a top flight QB like?
What are we comparing to?
Is he far below or still above average in the 1st?

Going into this season, Romo's first-quarter rating was the second-worst among active QBs, ahead of only David Carr.

Or consider that Eli Manning has 72 career starts, and he has been below a 72.0 rating in 30 of them -- more than 40 percent.

This team has been crapping out in Dec since about 1997. :bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

without knowing those stats i knew romo starts slowly.

when he first got the starting job i would watch him at TS and he always
seems a little "too" pumped up at the start of a game.

i thought it would go away as he matures, i still think it might.

I've noticed that too, he gets happy feet early in games

Another Romo stat --

-- On Sunday, Romo attempted 27 passes, and seven of them went more than 20 yards downfield, with five more going at least 10 yards downfield. Meanwhile, Tom Brady attempted almost twice as many passes Monday night, but only seven of them went at least 10 yards downfield, with only one of those going more than 20 yards downfield (it went 21). Romo threw six passes deeper than Brady's longest pass despite having barely half as many attempts.
