Hey Everyone,
I work for a rental company at our airport while I'm going to college. I'm a sales agent up at the counter.
We have the Texas vs. the Nation game coming up over here in El Paso, so we have a lot of scouts coming in from everywhere.
This morning I took care of two coming in for the game. The first works for the NFLPA. He was on the phone off and on, (get this, talking about Super Bowl tickets). When we had a chance to talk, he said that working for the Players Association "has it's moments." When I asked him about the Cowboys, he said, "let's not get into that."
The second gentleman was a guy by the name of Joe Womack. He works for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was scouting for them. I noticed he was wearing his Grey Cup ring (the thing was huge) from 2007. When I made a comment about it, he said, "Yeah, but we lost in the playoffs this year." I said, "That's fine, my team hasn't won one in years."
He asked who my team was, and I told him it was the Cowboys. He then said, "Yeah, they've got a lot of problems right now. A lot of problems."
I said, "I bet you know a lot more than I."
And he said, "Yes. I used to work in the NFL, and I'm still in touch. It's worse than you know."
I didn't push him for more information. We were too busy for us to sit and talk. But this is the first time I've actually been discouraged since the end of the season.
