Interesting response to question from Priest Holmes (Cowboys angle)

I am rooting hard for Holmes, who has long been one of my favorite players. As many of you may know, not only did he play college football in the state of Texas, but he maintains a home in San Antonio from what I know and apparently, one in Dallas as well.

I took this from a Q & A session he did at Chiefs camp today, of which the transcript was posted at www.kcchiefs.com:

Q: If there is some reason you wouldn’t fit in here is there other teams you would want to play for?

HOLMES: “I was able to make the [memorial] ceremony for Lamar Hunt [in Texas]. They’ve kind of created a home for me here, opened a door, and allowed me to establish myself as a premier back in this league. With that said, there would be no other team that I would desire to play for.

“For the sake of answering the question, it would be [one] closer to home in Dallas.”

...for the sake of a response...No thanks, unless of course, you'd like to take a paycut. ;)

The amount of money the Chefs have paid Holes the last 2 years is amazing. It's something like $800,000-$900,000 per year. Talk about a low return on your investment.

Most of the chat up here is that Holmes is probably nothing more than a 3rd down back anymore. The general feeling is he wouldn't hold up for 16 games is he had to carry the rock 20+ times a game.

he's not an everydown back anymore, but i bet he does well this year in a part time role.

If Barber isn't going to be the guy (which I think he can in this offense) than I wouldn't mind him coming in for a year until we get McFadden, and then possibly being a mentor for the rookie next year. Jones just seems like a waste of effort on our part. He's only playing for himself anylonger and I don't see him being a Cowboy next year regardless. We have to think of the future and Jones just doesn't seem like he cares to be in our future. He'll play as lights out this season as he possibly can, but then jump at the first opportunity to leave when his contract is up. This organization, Parcells and the fans have just given him too much crap for him to care extensively about us anymore. MHO.

The assumption is Dallas...

But the Texans would be an option as well... They make bad investments all the time.

This guy continues to battle injuries. He's coming off of one and (someone correct me if I am wrong, he recently complained of a neck sprain.)
He seems to want to be coddled and is convinced he's still a premier RB. He's second-string in KC, right now. And that seems just about right.
