Interesting that Dallas OL is middle of the road in pass protection

Obviously we have a solid OL. But, was just reading an article that statistically Dallas OL is around middle of the league in pass protection. I think this showed up in the Ravens game as Dak was hurried about 80% of his drop backs in the first half. He was getting obliterated back there with the Ravens missing one of the star DEs.

Many assume the OL is invincible but we need to improve this aspect down the stretch. Dak plays among the best in the NFL when he is hurried and even better when he has time. The few times he has struggled is DIRECTLY related to his lack of protection.

Im going to be watching this aspect closely against this solid Minnesota D.

Best way to slow down the pass rush on early downs is to get Zeke going.

Minnesota is use to stopping the run with their front 7, Dallas needs to take them out of their comfort zone in that regard to open up some passing lanes.

What article was this, and what do they call a "hurry". Seemed he had enough time to me. And what was their stats on this in the 2nd half.
what about other games.
1/2 of hurries does not make this OL not so good in pass protection.

Is this cherry picking on the writer's point of view, or cherry picking from you?

They have never been as good as pass protectors as they are as run blockers.

They don't really get rid of the ball quick either.

We try to let routes develop downfield for the most part.

So when teams blitz the crap out of us our QB has to sit in the pocket and wait.

I kind of wish we would swing it out to Zeke more in the flat like we used to do with Emmitt.

Also, Doug Free is awful against guys who can bulrush.

Our pass protection is the best, if we ran our system like the patriots and Commanders, he wouldn't be touched. Dak takes his time something he didn't have in college. He knows what he has here.

Towards the end of the article... The whole article is a pretty good read.

I doubt many believe the offensive line is invincible. Formidable? That's likely. Invincible? No. Even the most casual sports fan watching Cowboys games has seen Prescott pressured from time-to-time.
Also, Doug Free is awful against guys who can bulrush.
I'm glad others can identify that. I'm waiting to see how much the offensive line shall improve once the team upgrades right tackle.

This oline is good, one is really nitpicking if they are on about the pass protection. We will look back at this year and pray we can repeat the protection and blocking that these guys produced this season.

Considering Dak's tendency to hold onto the ball, I doubt the line is too poor in pass coverage.

Yep, Dallas has had issues in pass coverage since Deion departed.

Maybe you're referring to pass protection...

Dak himself said that he is getting soft because he is so rarely pressured or hit. He said compared to his college career, this year is like a walk in the park.

I disagree with the article without even reading it. ;)

For instance...on one sack last week, that was Written getting beat. On numerous other hurries...it was backs and tes getting pushed.

This is silly. Our pass protection is one of the best in the league.

"What about his offensive line? There’s no doubt that Dallas has an elite run-blocking offensive line, but in terms of pass protection, Prescott has been under duress at a league-average rate. When pressured, he has the second-best QBR and has not turned the ball over in 107 dropbacks."

From the article. Not my words.

Pass protection this season is significantly better than previous years

I'd like to see some stats that support this

This is false.

The % of hurries we've had over the past 3 years has been among the league's best. But that doesn't consider how the scheme forces our QB's to hold onto the ball longer than most of the league..

As far as this season goes, we are 5th in Adjusted Sacks allowed rate by FO.com. That's with a rookie QB and the 4 teams ranked better than us have schemes where the ball gets out of the QB's hand quicker.

Not to forget that we had 3 games without Tyron Smith and I don't think he's fully healthy either.

Its funny people find this in the stats. Dak gets pressure sometimes because the other guys are in the nfl. The line isnt invincible, They can get beat but generally the eye test will tell you Dak usually has more than enough time to scan the field.

But when is he getting pressured?
