Well I know ya'll know, this will be the third time to face the Giants this year. :eekmouse:

It's hard enough to win TWO games against the same team in one year, now we've got to do it for the third time. NOT that easy to do, so I hope the OLD Eli shows up next week.....

But, but, but, but, didn't we lose to the Cardinals in the playoffs after beating them twice during the regular season? :)

How many times have teams that played one another twice in the regular season met again in the playoffs? (Interestingly, at some point in NFL history some teams actually played non-divisional foes twice during the regular season) How many times was one of those teams 2-0? And of those instances, what is the record of the team that was 2-0? Time to find out if the "its tough to beat the same team 3 times in one season" mantra has any historical validity at all.

Short answer: no it doesn't. Long answer: The data you require would either require googling a study that is already out there or poring over tons of data or having an extensive database.

I had forgotten that, but I'm sure Ellis hasn't, and you know he'll probably mention it a few times this week.

Considering my handle, you can throw whatever history stats you want at me about how we're supposed to win because 60% of teams that did that win or teams with this record have gone on to be Super Bowl champions. You can throw that stuff out the window with the kitchen sink. It makes you feel better, but you still have to play the games.

What does make me feel better is that we won both previous games against them by 10 points or more each time. We did so in the first game without our top defensive back and a DT that got thrown into the game thanks to season-ending injury to Jason Ferguson. Greg Ellis didn't play a snap. With Newman and Ellis back and Ratliff with more starts under his belt we dominated the Giants in the second game ON THE ROAD in a huge divisional game with the Giants riding a six game winning streak. And Dallas is traditionally a great bye week team.

Also, Eli Manning went without an interception in today's game, which means he's due for two or three against us.

Try having an actual Cardinal fan as one of your best friends.

I think it would be worse being an actual Cardinals fan. That was their one shining moment in the last 30 years.

We didn't have a bye that week, and more importantly, they came into the game very confident seeing as they almost beat us in Phoenix after trailing 28-0. Plummer drove them all the way down in a goal-to-go situation.

We also had Chan Gailey calling plays.

And Billy Davis as our No. 2 receiver!:laugh2:

Trust me when I say those old Jim Hart, Terry Metcalf, Dan Dierdorf, Conrad Dobler, ect stories get a little old. Talk about living in the past.
