The 6-foot-3, 290-pound native of Chicago is in the midst of the most productive season of his Hawkeye career, counting 9.5 tackles for a loss and 5.5 sacks among his 40 tackles through eight games. He’s broken up two passes and forced two more quarterback hurries while pursuing another sack

.

The Iowa defensive tackle found his way to Northwestern quarterback Trevor Siemian three times in the first half last Saturday, setting a dominant tone in a 48-7 rout of the Wildcats.

On Northwestern’s second snap of the game, Trinca-Pasat battled past two blockers to beat a blitzing linebacker and drop Siemian for an eight-yard loss.

He followed that by chasing Siemian down for losses of 11 and 10 yards as the Hawkeyes built a 31-7 lead, creating the kind of a havoc that led Trinca-Pasat to a share of Big Ten defensive player of the week honors.
