Mike Irvin was the emotional leader of the team that won three championships. As Darren Woodson would tell it, at the end of practice everyday, Mike would get the 3rd string QB to throw him passes. Woodson said Irvin would do this until he threw up.

It also has been told that Irvin would verbally assault the DB's in practice every day. That included Deion. He challenged them by asking, "Who can cover me today. Nobody." And every time he beat them, he would ridicule and taunt them.

They say Iron sharpens Iron.

But Irvin's dedication transcended the offense and motivated the defense.

Watching the Ware Irvin video, it started me thinking if Parsons could be that ultimate leader of this team. He seems to have the desire and wants to be the best.

My opinion, Irvin did more to push those teams to greatness than any other player.

Can Parsons be that player now?

MM needs to save Irvin for the halftime speech. If they are winning big, save him for the next game.

LOL , there was no taunting penalty then, now if Parsons talk like that he will get the penalty. Different times ,

You do understand the taunting I was talking about Irvin doing was in practice and not real games?

Fantastic post. The genuine passion , will to win and unrelenting standard Irvin set for himself and demanded of all his team mates was a thing of beauty to watch during that great 90s team run of success.

Irvin makes my Mount Rushmore of Cowboys along the same level of Landry and Staubach.

As I watch Parsons generational linebacker talent, I can only hope his leadership ability can also carryover from the example he sets on the field as Irvin's did.

Again, great post.
