Jerry, Stephen, repeat after me, "stop giving out contracts to mediocre players before their contract expires". We got into big trouble in 07 when we did this with Hamlin, Barber, Newman and others so why are we going down that road again. Resign pro bowl players to huge contracts, not guys who you envision to be pro bowl players because your visions suck!

Anyways, Irving looks like the $9 million a year man and Crawford is playing like the guy signed or a practice squad. PS, I always wanted Irving on this team.

I don't think Crawford is anywhere near being a JAG.

Having said that, what the stats tell us is he collects 1 sack every 8 games he has played in his career AND those stats (and the eyeball test) indicate he is average (at best) at playing the run.

I don't think he was worth 5y/$45M ($9M/per), however, I believe he has it in him to still prove me wrong.

In otherwords, I am a bit on the fence.

At $9 mill a year he should be getting a minimum of 7 sacks a year, and at worst 5. His best season so far is what? 3? WOW!

I was all for signing him long term at around 4-5 million/year and got laughed at. I was told he was worth double that.

Too small of a sample size to be sure. Once he's scouted let's see how he plays then.

T Crawford is underperforming though.

Man... You guys are wishy washy. There was countless threads begging JJ to extend the guy and now everyone think the guy is a joke. I on the other hand wanted him to finish his contract and didn't like his massive contract. That money could have went to Murray. That 18 for 83 yards hit Dallas hard. For 10 or 15 more million guarantee we would have never went through this mess. At the least bring in a proven back. The stupid Jones family and you fake fans make me sick!

Mick said today that Crawford has been dealing with a shoulder injury the past few weeks, fwiw. That said, I thought he had a pretty good game yesterday. Irving looked great though, too, and is obviously earning snaps as long as he delivers.

Well we did bring in a proven back and he is doing quite well.

Irving had a great game, but Crawford had the second best game by a DL IMO.

He led the team in QB hurries with 4.

He'll always have that contract going against him now. I thought $6M-$7M would be fair market value if he got something like 5 sacks this year, but $9 should be reserved for elite 3 techs...which he has to potential to be, but isn't.

I hope he's hurt, because with the horses they have on the line, they should be getting more pressure from him.

He needs a really good 1 technique next to him to take on the double teams. We dont have anything close to that on this roster. That is one area that this staff missed on in the offseason. There had to be one out there somewhere better than Nick Hayden. Also the loss of Terrell McClain is hurting this team more than anyone wants to acknowledge.

Oh look. Nuanced opinions that add to the public discourse!
