Is a 32yr old DE - Trey Hendrickson worth $25-30mil

Way I see it Hendrickson would be our RDE, as that's the position he was with the Bengals.
Dallas did kick the tires at the TDL, so I think there is interest in him, but I'm sure with a honest offer.
Trying to recall the snap counts for EZE this year and if they rotated him but honestly I was checked out for those details to end the year.
Felt like EZE was better vs the run than expected, so maybe he could continue to develop towards a D-Law type edge-hopefully without the want to sell merch.
EZ is listed as 6/2, 248
He can be ok but not a top DE who can stop the run. it is also about mindset and EZs mindset appears to be rush

Listening to the Cincy sports radio, the fans cant wait to get rid of Trey Hendrickson. They are tired of him being hurt, too old and he wants to much money. Trey will be 32yr old, played only 7games last year due to a hip/pelvis injury and will command anywhere from $25-$30Mil a year. Is he worth GP3 money or can Jerry use that money to sign Clowney and fix the LB corp or backfield.

Personally, I would not sign Hendrickson unless I can get him for the right price, instead I would focus on Bosa and/or Clowney and fix the LB corps. I dont think one player can fix this defense....it's gonna take a village
No.

Nope. Move along to a more worthy player who attacks the QB AND plays the run well.

Absolutely! Yes, he had a injury year, but he had back to back 17 sack seasons prior to that.

First of all Hendrickson just turned 31 (12-5) so on a 2 year deal he would be 31 and 32. Over the last 5 years he has no injury history prior to getting hurt this year and by all accounts will be ready to go next year

Played in:
2020 - 15 games
2021 -16 games
2022 15 games
2023 - 17 games
2024 - 17 games.

2023-2024 he has 35 sacks and 89 tackles, he is exactly what we need coming off the edge. Him getting hurt in 2025 should make his price a little cheaper as well.

Jerry you want to do something dramatic things go get your beast edge rusher/run defender.

Plus it costs you no draft capital as Crosby would.

You have to take advantage of Dak's window, cannot afford to wait on developing young players. Roster already is very young, they need to add a few solid veterans.
Kinda my thoughts too and why I’ve been so critical of Jerry the last couple years. Once you extend a 30 year old qb the mindset needs to switch to that of urgency. There isn’t a ton of time for development with this team right now. Once a qb hits mid 30s you really start playing Russian roulette each year. Even defensively having your star player being a 28 year old interior lineman means you should probably be ready to push all your chips in the next couple years.

I think you could apply this same OP question and salary to the WR2 and LT positions and fill in the blank with whatever appropriate names.

At some point Jerry needs to stand by his word and finally bust the budget on free agent(s) this off season at more than one position.

Hurt quite a bit, his value is about 12-15 mil imo.

We need young players to build around. I don’t think we’re not an aging edge away from a deep playoff run.
I actually think we are in win now mode. We have a ton of cap locked up on offense mostly and a pretty veteran squad. Yes, like every team we need to hit our draft picks to add an influx of younger talent but that’s a given. I would definitely look at some more expensive vets on key positions on defense for 2-3 (preferably 2) year commitments. If it blows up in your face then it’s time to reset fully but I think it’s time to stop taking half measures.

A player like Hendrickson is absolutely a risk and an expensive one but he doesn’t require draft capital to acquire so he is someone I would look at. If you also re-sign Clowney then I think your whole defensive line is basically set although some more depth pieces would be nice. Then the draft can focus heavily on LB and the secondary which need multiple players.

Could possibly work out, but I'd say odds are high he'd eat up a bunch of cap, and miss a lot of time.

I believe he's going to be a free agent so he should be a consideration see how much money he wants everyone below saying they're not interested is ridiculous Two years ago this man had way more sacks than Parsons and I realized he had to have surgery but so did Max Crosby I am not giving up trade assets in draft picks to cover the same position they need to find a guy in free agency and in the draft and let's move on all this nonsense about making trades for players like Max Crosby is insane let's move on from that notion he is no spring chicken either just coming off an injury and surgery as well why not go for Hendrickson you're just looking for a bridge and a stabilization player to wait on eazy E and the guy we draft along with maybe keeping Clowney etc..

Trey was a great player, but he's at the end and no way would I be interested at his asking price.
We need young, hungry guys as our focus.
Put it this way, would you rather have Trey at 30 or Clowney at 6?
Clowney is a better run defender and may be as good against the pass now that Trey had declined.
Trey may excel in the right situation though.
I'm hoping that one of Bain, Faulk or Bailey is there at 12.

The window is now!

If Dallas is in a 2-3 year window, Trey makes sense. His injuries aren’t anything major and he won’t cost draft picks. He is also average against the run, not terrible like some are suggesting. Get him, Styles in the draft and find a real Safety…….the defense becomes middle of the pack immediately IMO.
