Is Anyone As Worried As I Am About Dez's Non-Exclusive Tag?

Just saw a blog that correctly pointed out a team like Indy could look at giving up two #1s, especially since they're likely to be late rounders, as very reasonable for the opportunity to land Dez. Oh, and they have a ton of cap room. They could lock up the Luck to Dez connection for life, just like we think we're going to do.

Why do I get a really bad feeling about this?

If someone offered to trade you Zach Martin and Travis Fredbeard for Dez Bryant, wouldn't you take it? Beyond that unless they put a poison pill into the contract, we still have the ability to match it.

You have utterly missed the point. First of all, how can you possibly know that those two late first rounders would translate into two all-pro level offensive linemen? Your assumption is incredibly flawed.

Not really. Did you miss all those games Dez disappeared? I would take the 2 #1s.

I take the two number ones- you save 15 milion dollars a year and you can also have the ammunition toget almost any player you want (or stay where you are) on low salaries from the draft.

As much as i love Dez- and I do, him and Romo are my two favorte players ever- defense wins championships.

Yes, but most of that is based on the idea that those two first rounders would turn into pretty darn good players, which isn't even close to being a sure thing. Dez is a unique player at a unique position. We'll see how this plays out, you might be right.

There is another caveat to the low round 1 team offering an unmatchable contract to Dez with
the understanding that the deal is after the draft this year. That way the 2 no. 1 picks would
come next year and the following year. The team ( Indy) would get our WR this year and
not have to give up picks until next year. That way they could get DeMarco and Dez
with little to no fuss on their way to the SB.

Having lots of Cap space is very attractive.

They are still negotiating. No reason to worry until the 7th.

It's one thing to think that the draft picks could turn into quality players but I think the idea that we can consistently find players who turn into all-pro rookies is just not reasonable.

His agent has probably already talked with Indy and they could have a gentlemen's agreement in place. Dez does
not have to sign the franchise deal until he wants to. Dallas may be screwed if Indy wants to take 2 of our modern
day triplets and make a SB run. Next year Dallas would get a no 32 round 1 choice while our team goes back
to 8&8 for 2015. How's that for wheeling and dealing.

In addition to getting Dez and DeMarco, they would also have TJ Yellen to work with Luck.
The draft choices would come next year and the following year probably at the end of round 1.
Guess what, there are no 1st rounders at the end of round one. We would essentially be getting
two 2nd rounders for Dez while Indy wins the next two SB's.

How does that sit with you!!!?

Well, if Indy wants him that bad then off he goes. If we are speculating, it could easily be that they have a handshake deal in place to see what the market would bear and Dez has said that he will give them the ability to match like Demarco has indicated. We honestly have zero clue about the negotiations behind closed doors, so I personally am just not concerned until I see a reason to be concerned.

For the record, if he does go somewhere else, I am rooting for the Raiders and those high picks!

Would never happen. Dez want's to win championships. Why not do it with a QB like Luck and his
buddy DeMarco. Both Dez and DeMarco want to go to a winner and that's Indy.

As long as we get 2 # 1s I'm fine with it, but I think the team could take less if they want to get a deal, like a #1 and a #2 which I'm not sure I'd like. Although I would take a stud RT and a #1 if that's possible.

We won't get anything this year if Dez signs an Indy agreement after this year's draft. We would get bottom of the jug
picks from next year and the following year. They would most likely be round 2 players.

Dez would go to the Raiders if they offered him $20 mil more guaranteed money than the next best deal. But that really isn't the point. This is all speculation unless you have something tangible. So, we can give opinions on speculation, but it is still just speculation until something factual comes along. Just too many moving pieces and too many things we may not be aware of to do any worrying right now in my opinion. Not saying you can't, but the question was if anyone was as worried and I posted that I am not.
