Is Beasely being underutilized?

Beasley should get like 60+ receptions. Not trying to start anything but he gets open easier than any of our receivers. Look at Tom Brady going to Jules..those smaller extremely shifty wrs are the hardest cover in the game.

And some of the least productive. Throwing more short passes for fewer yards is not a recipe for success.

Probably. I still question our offensive system, as it seems to rely on overwhelming talent rather than scheming.

It's hard to be sure now but after this year, I think we will know for sure. I believe Scott Linehan has a much better feel during games, what players to use, what types of plays will work best and just better overall ability to counter whatever an opposing defense throws at them. Add to that, Linehan, Garrett and Romo are all on the same page. Makes a big difference.
We didn't have to last year but if our running game stutters this year, Beasley can and will be used to help open it up. I'm thinking Beasley could and will be the answer to our running game, if it stalls.

You watched the pats go to the Edelman well a lot last night. Didn't you? Lol

I don't think Edelman can do that all season.
It's like they are using him as a pseudo running back at 9 yards per clip
Yep. It's okay to do that at the beginning of the year. By the end of the year, Edelman will be too beat up.
Edelman's been doing this ever since Welker left: 92 catches last year and 105 the year before, doing exactly what he does now. What makes you think he can't keep it up?

Beasley's usage increased a lot toward the end of last season. He caught 19 passes in the last 5 games, which would put him on a pace for 60 catches in a full season. Wouldn't surprise me to see that happen this year.

Edelman is a cocky little sucker. One day that showboating is going to get him laid out. That said he's almost too quick to get a good shot at.

He had only 37 receptions last year. Two less than the year before. Yet on many plays he seemed open.

I know there are only so many balls to go around plus Witten gets a lot of the catches. Still his type of player really gives defenses fits and can extend plays. I hope they try to get him more involved this year.

I'm still wondering if Corey Haim was/should have been a part of the Brat Pack.
Don't further complicate my life!!!

Most of beasleys catches were clutch 3rd down conversions or chain movers. When Romo needs a reliable target to be open he should look for Beasley more now than ever.

Beasley is useful for catching short passes and for converting on third-and-short. That's his role.

But it would be counterproductive to want to throw more passes to him in most situations because we have other players who are more explosive and more productive.

if they send Cole on a seam route and have Dez and Williams run a clear out route. it would be money.

This has been my big beef and gripe for so long. We just tell our players to beat their man on their own. We don't design a gameplan to exploit mismactches. It's frustrating.

And Beasley was pretty open on that Dez "catch" on 4th down. Would have easily kept the drive going.

O for lords sake.....People are talking about Edelman like hes the second coming of jesus in cleats. There is a reason why him, Welker, Beasley are successful. They constantly line up in the slot and work the middle of the field often on 7-8 yard crossing routes{hi Edelman} often against slower bigger defenders. They do not have the size nor the strength/ability to be productive on the outside ala Dez or Irvin.

See my earlier post highlighting his injuries.

It would seem that there's a case to be made that Beasley may have been underutilized in the past but I think it remains to be seen if that situation is likely to be continued in 2015. By the sound of things, it seems as though his activity level is on tap to be increased this year. Let's see what the staff and OC Scott Linehan have in store for him before we decide whether he's being underutilized or not this year. I think they fully realize now that he's more useful than what they first thought.
