Is Dak an elite Top 5 Quarterback?

I agree, and really because thats your definition of elite it cant be argued. I know we as posters here go at this argument alot and thats why i said because there is no real line for "Elite" going at anyones idea of it is kinda a waste of time.. its just an opinion and everyone has one so why not just say "Ok i see your point" and tell yours..to me Elite would be the best of the best and right now thats Mahomes to me.. thats not a knock on Dak as i think he is playing outstanding.
For sure. Mahomes is special. I think he's the best QB of this generation. I think he has surpassed Rodgers, Manning, and Brady for that title IMHO.. But for that matter I always thought Manning was better than Brady anyway.. he just landed on a lesser team and labored with inferior coaching most of his career.

I agree Manning to me had things the others did not, Brady just always had the better overall team.

Mahomes is the opposite, he just landed on a great team with a great HC/GM.

Andy Reid when all said and done is arguably better than Bellicheat.

its a great match for sure, i said in another thread in that game Thursday... our defense got after KC and the stats look bad but most of the time it was Mahomes escaping a doing things only he does...That to me is what makes him the best, he may be the best QB at escaping and hurting you i have ever seen.

He is arguable better when he escapes than when is in the pocket.

He's the top paid QB in the history of the NFL and the face of the highest valued franchise in the history of sports. He has no off the field issues and seems like a genuinely good human being. I don't know about elite QB but the guy has an elite life.

Dak has the highest annual average contract. Mahomes has made more money.

Take a look at the cap hit for Mahomes in 26 and 27. It is higher than Dak's.

KC just has a better GM.

this 100%, Mahomes didnt give a break, the GM made a very smart proposal...

Mahomes also has an elite life, though he seems to have some family he has to navigate.

Why do we throw that word elite around so much? It's unfair. Is Allen elite? Is Mahomes? Pat just lost a critical game. Allen struggles mightedly at times. See my point? Dak looks more consistent than those other QBs, so is he elite? See? LETS agree in this. Many NFL QBs have outstanding traits, games, the clutch gene. Etc. But the days of Dan Marino,Staubach, Aikman, Bradshaw, Montana, and many more, are few and far between. Let's agree that Dak is damned good. Glad we have him. Take pause and count your blessings... because look at teams like Minnesota, New Orleans, Jets, and others, they would commit a felony to have a QB like Dak. Lol. He's worth every penny.

Actually, when you get down to it, what does "elite" even mean?

In football, the goal is to contribute as best you can to the success of your team.

How do you accurately measure that? In what way do you measure that? Which attributes are to be measured and in what order of importance?

We can view the stats but does that tell us anything about the circumstances under which they achieved them?

If we were to switch every QB to a different team next season would the elite quarterbacks of today still be regarded as such? Some, perhaps, but all?

Perhaps the word "elite" should only be applied only to those QBs that have led their team to elite results.

I've drawn the conclusion that the only elite quarterbacks in the NFL are the ones currently wearing Super Bowl rings.

Is hurts elite? Yet he has a SB ring. Does that make him elite? You don't need Dan Marino tj win chips. You need several things to come together at the right time. It's like cooking a gourmet meal. You need to start with the basics of the meal, then get the ingredients right, mix them, cook them right. If you look at our team, we seem to have 95% of the right ingredients. Is it enough to finish the gourmet meal? We will see. Just win. Winning breeds confidence, culture, good habits and love for each other. Let's face it, this team is doing this for each other now. They have purpose and meaning after their brother in arms passed away. That and they love, respect Shotty like a strict Dad that they know loves them, despite being hard on them maybe. Love the trajectory of the team for 2026.

Thank you. This^ and even then , not all SB winning QBs are elite, but they just win. Look at Hurts. Sometimes being elite means your a winner. Stats then go out the window. I think Hurts is below mediocre, but where's he's special is his feet, legs, and dudes a winner. Never gets rattled. I admire that trait.

This is an argument..... just sayin'. He's disspelling some narratives today. Becoming the all time Cowboys passing leader and getting the win against a team considered the best in the NFL by lots of people. What a time to break the all time record.

And the idea that he can't come from behind. I know just one game doesn't erase a career, but it's a good start of things heading in the right direction.

He's the only one .500 or below that is getting a heap of praise. Mahomes, Allen, Maye, Stafford,.... and maybe Jackson are all above .500.... he's gonna get a mountain of praise by the media this week. Better get your curls ready.... it's happening whether you like it or not.
Romo became an all time Cowboys leader. Was he top 5 elite?
