A taste of Dak's draft scouting report.....

Weaknesses
  • Beat up this year thanks to poor protection
  • When he wasn't being sacked, he was being hit hard
  • Not as competitive a rusher in 2015
  • Sacks and usage in run game might be taking a toll
  • Increase in short pass attempts from 86 to 208 this year reason for higher completion numbers
  • Accuracy on intermediate and deep throws dropped sharply
  • Pocket poise has been compromised
  • Hyper aware of pressure around him and lacks awareness to slide and find temporary shelter to make throw
  • Concern over pressure too often trumps ability to get through progressions
  • Must speed up the pace of his reads
  • Footwork is a mess
  • Slight stride onto stiff upper leg with little weight shift
  • Restricted follow through and too often tries to muscle throws with upper body
  • Throws to target rather than leading or throwing them open on short/intermediate throws
  • Too respectful of underneath coverage and must be more willing to challenge the defense
  • Needs to improve anticipation
Now, who dares to dispute the scouting report which is spot-on and he still has these weakness till today!

It's amazing that this is from over 6 years ago and he has not improved in those areas at all.

Quick quiz...

Whose weaknesses are these?

Weaknesses
  • When rolling out, will float it a little too much when taking shots down the field
  • Allows passing windows to close quickly when he short arms his release
  • Needs a little more consistency on anticipatory throws outside the hash
  • Will get caught locking in on target bringing secondary charging in to make a play on the ball
  • Inconsistent footwork from the pocket
  • Arm gets ahead of his feet even with time to come to balance
  • Needs to pick up pace of his post-snap setup
  • Has to put a little extra air on his field-side throws
  • Can be a little flat with his downfield, touch throws
  • Has to eliminate the occasional nonchalant throw into tight quarters
  • Doesn't look comfortable yet with bootleg rollouts to the left
  • Broke a bone in his throwing wrist in October sidelining him for eight weeks
  • Dealt with arm and shoulder injuries as a baseball player in high school
  • Lower level of competition could cause issues for him adapting to NFL speed
Hint: He's been traded from multiple teams.

Murray had a better, rating, QBR and beat Dak head to head. Not sure how he isn't ahead.

Stafford is just better.

Cousins is kind of close to Dak.

But yeah, the NFC is now a QB wasteland and the AFC is stacked. Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Wilson, Herbert, etc.
which matters how? they will pick each other off with most all in one division. only one will be in the SB to challenge whichever NFC team makes it and its no guarantee..mighty Joe young burrows lost to the NFC..rcent history says who give a flying steaming glob of poo!

jeez rankings mean squat head-to-head, right! they guarded each others WRs LOL last time dak met Wilson in the playoffs Dak won, guess hes better.. eli beat Brady twice guess hes better. Dak beat Herbert, guess hes better...

Can't coach the ones short of natural-born talents.....:(...if the base foundation isn't there what you saw in College you get in the NFL.
The only reason Dak is still with his original team is because he was lucky enough to get drafted into the biggest no accountability culture in the NFL.

Wentz and Goff would 100% still be with the Cowboys if they were drafted here too.

You have a guy like Randy Gregory who couldn't stop breaking rules for years and getting suspended over and over and he's still here.

Dak still being here is not a confirmation of his skill, but rather another stain on the Cowboys "we like our guys" culture.

Dak is here as Jerry refuses to stomach the reality of his massive mistakes he made when it pertains to Dakko!

So you have no idea whose draft profile I posted?

I know Dak's draft profile and most of his weaknesses, he has improved or turned into strengths. Do you know why? Because he works his butt off...

Imagine the mental gymnastics you have to play to believe Dak has turned those weaknesses into strengths.

The only reason you feel the way you do about Dak is because he has a star on his helmet. If we had Wentz, Golf, Lynch, or whoever you'd do the same thing. The star on the helmet is all you see and you're blinded by it.

Yeah it is… Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Herbert, Mac J, that’s a pretty good crop of potential future HOFers.
Mac Jones is in the HOF potential QB? after his average rookie year...wow....
as Parcells used to say, lets put the annointing oil away for a while.

correction: as long as Jerry owns the cowboys, no QB will ever win a SB in dallas.

there. fixed it for you
Aikman did it 3 times.

He is also the last real QB this franchise has seen.

So, The Cowboys can win with Jerry in charge. He just has to stop believing he found the next Tom Brady whenever his undrafted/4th round QBs overachieve and the proceed to waste the next 15 years trying to prove himself right.

well, since you like scouting reports and they are so scientific.

what scouts said about
Tom Brady
"is a smart, tough QB who throws accurately, makes more big plays than you expect and rarely makes a big error despite not having a strong arm...he will eventually be a good starting QB, but will always have trouble making the throws that you need to get power behind."

Peyton Manning
Manning is probably the most prepared QB to enter the NFL draft in several years.. He has had a storybook college career, and has been in a top level program with excellent coaching, and he has maturity and great intangibles to go along with his natural skills.. He should be able to pick up the mental aspects of the game early on the NFL level, and should play very quickly. He has great overall field vision. He is a fierce competitor, and all of his mechanics are very solid. He has good arm strength, but not necessarily a “gun” that you might expect from a QB at the top of the draft.. He has adequate mobility and good overall AA, although he is not a scrambler by nature. He has done an excellent job of getting the most out of his abilities, but he is not quite as natural a player as Leaf. One question that some NFL scouts have is the question “will he get any better?”. At times he gives the appearance of being a self-made player, and sometimes those types of players don’t always go on to great NFL careers. In Manning’s case, he may be a solid and productive NFL QB, but he may not have Hall of Fame type skills, but it certainly won’t be for lack of effort

Ryan Leaf
Leaf appears to be the hot QB in this draft, and he led WSU to a storybook season...He is a physically imposing QB with great size and strength....he is very sturdy and durable in the pocket, and is a surprisingly good athlete for his size...He has a strong arm and shows good touch, and can change up the speed on his passes...He has good feet, but is not really a scrambler. However, he can stand in and take the big hits....He is a very naturally gifted player, but could improve on his throwing mechanics, although it is not a major problem....There are no physical or athletic limitations to hold Leaf back from becoming a great NFL QB.

and then there was Mike Mamula and Tony Mandrich,

yeah, those scouting reports are so scientific and accurate.

LOL.

So ROY, Multiple Pro bowls, multiple division titles, multiple Cowboy and NFL records, and you think these weaknesses still are there?

Wow.

yeah, his first few years. with Johnson running the show. I should have said, as long as Jerry runs the cowboys, we won't win a superbowl.....
