Is Dak Prescott worth 25 million dollars a year?

It’s really naive, and I should have learned my lesson by now, but Dak strikes me as the type of guy who wouldn’t push to be “the highest paid”.

I think we will see a large contract that rewards him but doesn’t cripple us when it’s time.

That is why they hire agents so they don't have to ask. lol

I cant believe this is even a question. A franchise QB is worth whatever you need to pay him to keep him. They dont come around often. Ask 26 teams in the league what they would pay for a legit Franchise QB. Guarantee they would be saying "whatever he wants".

agreed..I just wanted to be a little greedy and use the extra cap right now to finish the team.

True true, there are still exceptions though. Has Brady ever been highest paid?

The real question is, is Dak worth 15% of the salary cap of 167 million? When 50+ players are vying for the remaining 142 million, is that the best use of distributing the money? I'm waiting, but not holding my breath, for a superstar quarterback to take a noticeably smaller amount than premium market value, so that the additional money can be used for retaining good offensive lineman, running back and receivers.

At some point, getting $100 million a year to have lineman block for you at $50,000 a year is a bad idea for your own health. Hopefully, Dak realizes the balance when the time comes.

Why?

When, if he stays as is and doesn't get any better, he can command at least 5 years at $20 per.... $60 guaranteed (by the time 2018) rolls around... he'll get salary per year plus guaranteed.

We all know it's really $25 per anyways
The reason is he gets his big money a year earlier and he "helps" the team with the cap
It really is a still a 20m/yr deal but it gives the Brady optics of being super team friendly

If he wants every last dollar he is entitled to get it but look how ugly it is in WAS with Cousins.... there is no need to go there and hopefully Dak, Zeke and Jaylon are coming off a SB and care more about winning than money....... but all of this is a few years down the line

I get the point and your right but fact is players want to be paid their market value. When it comes to QB they are the highest paid position in the league but they are also the 1st ones to redo contracts to help free up money, granted they lose no money in the process but they understand the need to free up cap money to have players around them so they can succeed

easy to do when the wife makes ten times as much
True. But the fact remains. He's left a lot of money on the table so he can have better players around him.

He's the best QB of all time yet throughout his career he's never been the highest paid.

I don't think Dak is the kind of character to sit out and throw a baby fit over money. He will know and prove it when he is worth it.

As far as these inflation contracts, they are crazy. I always think about that. What are contracts going to be like in, say, 2050? 5 year 800 million dollar for a QB? lol

If people keep paying outrageous money for tickets, jerseys and most of all Satellite and Cable then yes they will continue to go up. You have to wonder what percentage of inflation is caused by Sports. When you think of the ad dollars that go into sports broadcast and how that raises the prices of everything you buy...... It would be an interesting study I think.

I think an interesting comparison is Nascar, the recession in 2007 caused a huge drop in attendance to Nascar events and you still to this day see tons of empty seats. The recession hit the middle class really hard and the loss of jobs in the manufacturing sector is still killing Nascar today. What would have to happen to cause that same effect on the MLB, NBA and NFL?

So?

He takes a few million less so that the team puts better players around him. Sounds like self interest to me.

Hey, I'm not criticizing him in any way. More power to him. I'm complimenting him.

I hope Dak has the same attitude when the time comes for him to re-up. To me, he doesn't seem like the kind of guy who is motivated by money.
