Is Darren McFadden good enough

McFadden has been pretty good, but we have invested too much in this offensive line to be pretty good. I want us to be dominant in the run game again next year. Whether that means a high draft pick or a FA we need a new #1. McFadden fits the role of a #2.

this coaching staff seems to be allergic to the run game. The better it does the more they go away from it. When DMC had had 20+ carries he's done well then it seems we move away from that. Who knows if it's linehan or garrett but either way, we shy away from the teams strength which is the o-line and the run game.

Dmac and Dunbar will be fine only if we get a lead back..a weakness would turn very strong.....IF...is a big word with two small letters.

McFadden was about what I expected. He probably would have had around 1400 yards to end the year had he been THE guy the whole season.

But I don't like that a guy his size can't knock someone over.

i actually didn't mind the dynamic once turbin was brought in though.

What I did mind was the short yardage personnel decisions thereafter.

DMC actually moved some piles for first downs and TDs. More than what you are thinking.

I like DMC at RB, and think he said he should have been the starter, game 1.
I still like him and think he can be productive and adds a good dimension to the offense.

However, I still prefer a younger stud RB, like Elliot or Henry. Then DMC, Turbin, Dunbar, or a Dunbar type player. maybe DMC can do that too.
I think Turbin test the FA market again. But the current RBs aren't the answer we still need that bell cow type.

Not sure how we feared Murray long term...but would roll with DMC in what will probably be Romo's last chance

DMC was super cheap.... like Blue Light special. If Murray would play for that I am sure he would still be here.

But no I am not comfortable with DMC as bell cow.

I don't want to waste this Oline by trying to get cute at the RB position. McFadden waa solid this year and played much better than I expected, but nobody feared our running game like last year. When we made the center of our offense the run game was when we had a ton of success. I'm for drafting an rb.

I think Dunbar helps alleviate some fears

If that alleviates any fears, then this is the crack in the dam that we will ignore and it will bust and some will be running around next December wondering what happened.

I do not even trust him to be a quality 3rd down back. I fail to comprehend what people saw in a couple of games that makes him impressive.

Bring him and his recovering knee back to compete.

I think you'll see another back brought in... be it in the draft or a back like Miller.

McFadden is a fine change-of-pace option.

We should definetely try to upgrade but I thought he did a fine job this year considering he played for a horrid coach that told every team what we're doing.

I really like that Alex Collins from Arkansas.

Just to note: Darren McFadden is currently 5th in the NFL in rush yards this year.

Ironically several of the leagues better backs missed a lot of time and a few were misused.

MLynch, JCharles, LBell, MForte, CHyde, DMurray, LMcCoy, MIngram, AFoster are better backs.

McFadden amazingly stayed healthy and set a carries record but it is time to move on. He is welcom back as insurance to a rookie or a LMiller type.

Dunbar can return on a vet minimum deal as well. Turbin is a JAG.

Dunbar doesn't scare anybody . He is a RB with a couple plays designed for him to get free, but he can not be depended on to carry very much of the load if any at all .

Not to mention coming off a major injury...

Not to mention coming off a major injury...

I remember when he could never stay healthy and that was his reputation. And it was very evident and true.

A couple of games where he actually produced and people lost their minds. And even assumed that his injury was a reason why the season fell apart.

Just incredible.

Our season was so wretched that Lance Dunbar is considered a bright spot.

That is simply amazing to me.

We simply CANNOT exit this draft without a young, bell cow running back.
No more picking up scraps. We need fresh, string legs.

It was nice McFadden and his chicken legs made it an entire season, but seriously.

Was his performance that significant?

It was okay. And more than enough to bring him back.

But counting on him again is a Jerry Jones roll of the dice that will blow up next season.

Draft a young back. If for no other reason, we do not have another starting or even strong rotation quality back on this roster.

We did the Seattle castoff thing and it was entertaining. But let's get real.

I thought he actually played admirably, but he's not a horse. We need a RB that teams fear and gameplan for.
