With us having high round picks last year and with us having two first round picks it just seemed to be more exciting going into the draft.

Now even without those high picks and without the second 1st round pick it just does not have the same luster as last year.

I think it has to do with the difference of quality this year in the draft.

Maybe it is just me but it seems the number of top players, imo, is just not the same as last year.

Maybe it is just me but I am just not as excited about this draft as I was going into last years draft.

Hopefully that will change.

Were you excited in 04? Seems that when the team has some success, the draft isn't as much fun.

This draft is filled with "potentially" good players. We just have to watch them go to other teams. I just hope we strike gold with our picks. Forget about star quality and big time names. Get the best player we need for our team.

I'm even more excited BP. Just because I think a great Draft and FA period could really vault us up.

Last year's draft was one of the weakest in years.

This year's draft is deeper than last years especially at positions like OLB, DL, and OL. This is another very weak WR class (last year was weak too, but was better than this one).

You are right in that last year everybody was an option, we had so many choices and a lot of needs. This year we don't have as many needs and our pick isn't as good.

I think it's easier to get excited about the draft coming off of a 6-10 season vs coming off a 9-7 season.

It's more probable to find starters and serious contributors coming onto a bad team, vs a decent to good team.

I don't expect any fireworks this year. We're not a player or two away from the big game, but we are several good players away from making some serious noise.

I'm excited about the draft. I always am. It's a glimpse at our future.

The only problem is Jerry Jones has blown so many drafts, it's become almost expected. I remember thinknig 2002 was a stud draft, but we wound up with a starter in Roy Williams and a backup in Andre Gurode. How disappointing.

But it beats other drafts where we did nothing but draft AFL players.

I think we can find at least 2-3 solid contributors in this year's draft. As long as we don't reach, dance around, and make stupid picks ... I think we'll find good players to add to the good players we found in 2005.

Last years draft I felt was a major success for the Cowboys I think Dallas has to have another major success this year if we are to get back to the top and stay there for a while. Myself I'm just as excited about this one as I was about last years

It's not about what we can do afterwards for me...I mean I would be happy with all good picks that contribute.

I think the idea of it is in the past I have had a set number of players that if we took them I would be very excited (one year it was suggs/newman leftwich last year it was merriman or ware).

This year I just don't have that set number of players that will make me jump up and down like the last few years...still will be happy to get good players but nobody is really knocking my socks off (nobody that we SHOULD have a chance to draft).

I keep thinking we are better off trading down this year and getting more value with more positions as opposed to taking a player a little higher then where they should be taken.

I was a lot more excited last year as well and the main reason I can come up with is becasue last year we pretty much knew we would be changing to the 34 and our main draft would be defensive espically the early rounds, so we where able to focus in mainly on LB's and OLB's with the ocassional WR thrown in. This year we have no clue as to which way we may draft. We have needs but it's hard to put one above the other so IMO there is a lot more to look at and its harder to focus on one position or even side of the ball this year. But that's just me.

Are you serious? Look at the guys that went late in the first -- and then compare those to the scrubs that mocks have us taking at #18.

There are players in this Draft that I like enough to get excited. It's a very deep draft at LB, OT, S, and DT which I think are our primary needs.

Give it another couple weeks of no football and you'll be counting the seconds until the draft. :)

I agree 100%, Brain.
I have said the exact same thing on a few occasions.
We need to find a way to hurry up and get another 1st rounder before draft time.

I already do in a way. I've got a counter with days, hours, minutes, and seconds left.

I'm anxious to see some info. on the Combine results once that info. is available to us. It sounds like it's a given that it will be a weaker draft at the WR spot, and I think that if we can find someone who wants to trade up into our 18th spot, I think Parcells will jump on the chance to trade down and pick up additional 2nd and 3rd round picks. It will all depend upon if a player that a particular team has its eye on falls, then we may take their trade offer and trade down, but again, someone will probably need to fall before we hear too many offers though, IMO.

I'm just as excited because after last year's draft and free agent signings Dallas is clearly within striking distance of the Superbowl. Compare with last year, when such a thought before the season started was outlandish.

If Dallas can fix the OL they can beat anybody. LB, WR, and safety could all stand to be upgraded, but none of these cost the Cowboys games like the OL did last year.
