Is it time to overpay for a WR?

Read through half that Amendola thread when I decided we just need to go the extra mile in a trade for either R. Williams or A. Bouldin right now.

I think our chances of winning the Super Bowl in 2008,09 and 2010 are much greater than 2011,12,13. We are so close and maybe even a year overdue.

We might just need that little extra push. One more key player.

I think acquiring one of these two WR's at this precise moment in time has to much upside for us to not consider overpaying.

Later in the thread I'll elaborate on why I see the deal as so critical and why we almost can't overpay.

Right now I would like to know what is the most you'd want to see us give in a trade for each of these players?

I want to know the most you'd pay because I don't believe either of these players can be had in a fair trade. And certainly not at a bargin price.

I don't believe Detroit or Arizona wish to trade these players. If any team is going to pry them loose, they're going to have to overpay a little.

For Williams I'll trade our 2009 1st, 2009 2nd, pick of (Ellis, Burnett, Carpenter), and pick of (Crayton, Hurd, Miles)

For Boldin I'll trade the same.

Remember the idea is to make a deal they can't refuse.

wow.

that is all I can say.

I am curious who had better wr than the dolphins or broncos in the 80's?

Was there ever a team with a better set of wr than the vikings with moss, reed and carter? howbout that houston oilers team in the early 90s?

What did those teams ever win?

If we dont win at least a playoff game this year it wont be because we dont have a celebrity #2 wr.....especially when witten is that second or first option all the time.

We have more than enough talent to win right now.

id say this, with drew rosenhause, or however you spell this name the agent for T O and Boldin,

he was trying to trade boldin to the cowboys, guess price was too much, reports of that came from jenn engel a few days ago

next, drew r......... was in phily yesterday and news of eagles trading lito shepherd for boldin and draft pick surfaced, it looks like cardinals are asking too much etc, or else the deal would have been done

i talked to smoaky and he said his opinion was this, what is the going rate right now for veteran players,
jason taylor went to Commanders for a 2nd and 6th pick
shockey went to the saints for a 2nd & 5th pick the 2nd could turn into a 1st

so right now with the hamstring injury boldin has, i say, a 2nd and a 4th to 5th, not anymore

we all know the gm of lions matt milen is nuts, and he would want 2 number ones, when the Commanders tried to get him with 2 number 1s that didnt work

so dont look for a trade with detriot to work due to silly matt millen, maybe boldin though

however we just signed a wr, from free agency, whom is 6-3 206 with 4.34 in 40, supposedly has a 42 inch vertical leap, so right now, lets see what happens in camp;

it looks like hurd is stepping up a whole bunch and so is miles austin

also at the same time, stanback is coming along slowly, but coming on and reports are he is a blazer too

so lets hold off a couple of weeks, see what happnes in camp and the first 2 weeks of preseason games and see how Hurd, Austin, Stanback and this new guy plays out,

I think it would take nothing less than 2 #1's and I don't expect Dallas to do that. I would not be suprised to see Dallas add a vet WR as teams around the league are forced to make cuts but at this stage I don't see Dallas getting a big name player like RW or Bouldin. Next off season I think Dallas will look to the draft or FA market.

Patriots won back to back titles with no legit number 1. Why do we need to surround the great Tony Romo with a pro bowler at every skill position to win a Super Bowl?

And why are we paying Jason Garrett 3 million a year when he needs a proven Pro Bowler at every position for his offense to work? He must be the most overrated coach in the NFL.

Makes me wonder if we're getting 'our' money's worth with Ray Sherman back there...When you consider how poorly stocked the Giants were at WR, it's impressive how their 2nd and 3rd tier WRs played...ESPECIALLY in the playoffs...We should see more from these WRs that we've been hearing about for a few seasons now....Someone HAS to emerge

Everyone knows you need legit #2 star and a superstar TE to go along with your #1 WR to amount to anything in this league. Just ask Amani Toomer and Kevin Boss.

I actually think Garrett is very overrated. Running draw plays with less than a minute left in a playoff game and 1 timeout on a 2nd and 1 says that for me alone. I dont understand why everybody is so eager to give Roy or Anquan some crazy contract. Felix Jones just upgraded our offense nto to mention i have faith in the young recievers on the roster. We dont need either one of those 2

Great and I was talking about the WRs.

Sam Hurd going into his 3rd season.

Miles Austin going into his 3rd season.

Patrick Crayton going into his 5th season.

Did Austin or Hurd have a chance to do anything against the Giants? Yes or No

I already know the answer to it. You can't produce if the ball doesn't come your way.

Put me in the camp of those who believe we can ill-afford to lose Terrell. The offense is nothing near the same without him.

That said, I have seen this club go this route before. The return wasn't all that great, IMO. Not to mention, I am not so sure either Roy or Anquan is on the market.

and then ask Harrison, Wayne, and Dallas Clark ;)

then text Tory Holt and Issac Bruce.

Get a quick start in every game, watch teams try and come back on our secondary, and let my dad kill the clock in the 4th quarter

Yet, Kevin Boss was in year 1...Steve Smith was in year 1...David Tyree earned a Pro Bowl in year 2...Point was, we keep hearing about these WRs developing but see very little in terms of real contributions
