I'm going to give TO an 8 or 9 for his behavior since joining the team.
The only criticism I might have would be the wisdom of wearing the biking togs that day in camp. While I think it was kind of funny I would have also been very wary of doing that with Parcells as coach knowing how injuries are such a hot button for him. I'm thinking you should be on pretty solid relationship ground before trying something like that. Keyshawn & Glenn could do it but it's just too risky with TO's rep and lack of history with Bill. That said, it didn't develop into anything that I could tell.
I guess the book where he slams McNabb & Eagles was a less than ideal choice as well.
The hammy hoopla and now the ER visit were all media hype that TO cannot be blamed for even if he truly tried to harm himself.
But do I therefore think his positive Cowboy track record of 6 months or so has made him a swell guy who was framed in his previous stops? No. I think he needs to own his piece of those failures and I still believe his piece is very significant. He's at times expressed remorse which is positive but I still feel like he's a potential time bomb.
This move remains a very big gamble with both big upside and big downside. I know Jerry positioned the contract to minimize the cap pain of releasing TO should that become necessary, but given the media frenzy surrounding TO, and realistically that will never change given his past, any breakup would be very public and painful for the org. I don't think it'll reach the heights it did in Philly & SF, but we'll still get scarred.
Its way too soon to see how this will all end up.
I can live with the media overreactions even though I loathe them.
