some idiot on another forum is trying to tell me that Julius is an average back, because he racked up his yards and Tds against porous run Ds, then he goes onto say that he gets too much pub for, "not really doing anything"

what an IDIOT!! maybe he doesn't deserve to be called a great back, but he sure as hell aint average

At this point after 9 games in his pro-career I think giving him any label is a bit unfair, "Great", "Averge", "Good"-- whatever. I think it can be said the guy is potentially outstanding-- potentially. But he has a long way to go to cement that position. He has the tools, that I think he's proven but he has to do it on the field week after week for at least a couple seasons before we give him the title of "great".

areed 100%, just think terms such as "average" and "not doing really anything" is a bit untrue, he did enough to make people excited about him

Well that is something not many people would agree with. He may not be in the LT or Priest Holmes class yet, he certainly isn't chop liver either.

If you watch Jones and see his vision, quickness, speed and strength you can tell he is a special player.

Right now he is an average pass catcher and blocker but the rest of his game is top 10 in the league at his position.

He's a better player than Clinton Portis for instance because he is stronger, with better vision.

:hammer:

We have a winner.

JJ has great stats for a "first" year back (he's only really played 8 games). But it's the qualities he shows as a running back that has everyone labeling him as great when he hasn't actually reached that level yet.

After this year I suspect there will be no doubt about how good a back he really is.

Well, he ran for 93 yards and a TD against the 2nd best run defense in football. If he did that every game, he will still end up with 1,488 yards and 16 TDs. I'll take thatr all day, every day.

as regards RUNNING JJ is right there in the top 10 NOW. Its the rest of the package that needs more work, and he is improving both as a blocker and as a receiver. I do not think he will ever be as good as LT or Priest as a receiver, but he will be just as good at everything else. Once he gets a crack at some of the weaker D's he will certainly rack up the yds, but getting 80-90 against TOP D's consistently- which he is ALREADY doing- THAT is the mark of the top backs. Now I am waiting for him to light up one of the TOP D's and that will be his official welcome to the great backs area.

Just b/c I'm not a Cowboys fan - doesn't mean I can't be objective. Frankly, when you guys picked up JJ last year - I thought the Tuna was off his rocker.

Now, I believe he made a good pick. JJ has looked good. He's the real deal and has good potential.

You want to know who I'm really scared of? That Ware kid. He's a freak. Maybe that is why Gibbs pulled Ramsey - Ware would have smushed him in the pocket.

....as for my name - I grew up as a Commander fan in Arlington, TX for 11 years......elementary thru college. I have issues.

Hope for a good game on MNF - no injuries.

Ill drink the Kool Aid as much as the next guy. I hate to give a Commander props either. But lets let Julius get a 1000 yard season under his belt before we say he's better than a 1500 yard back in his prime like Portis.

Thank you kindly. The few times I've stopped in - people have been more than cordial....even w/ my obnoxious name.

Off to root for the 9ers pulling off an upset over the Iggles - I'm sure we can all agree on that one.

Health will be the determining factor in the end but his tools screams elite RB, time will tell.

To me, the most impressive game for Julius was against Balitmore. That defense stuffs the run. His stats weren't great, but he gave the team a semblence of a running game and that was without any support from the passing game.

Someone already mentioned it, but the Bears have a good defense and he went for 150 against them.

I was impressed with last weeks game against another top run defense. His running opened up the passing game. He had a couple of good runs called back on penalties.
