Is Martellus living up to the hype from preseason?

Maybe he is blocking well,I havent noticed.I dont think he is a huge weapon however as a Reciever.Romo is spreading the ball well.I dont see martellus getting much however. Not really being use in red zone.Maybe he is still green? The media acted like he was the next Gates.I think not.

Ummmm....nope.

He has been a non-factor in the passing game. That is a huge disappointment. I am expecting him to become more of a factor in the second half of the season...

No, he absolutely has not.

But before we cue the "We should have traded him away!!!!" responses -- oh, and they're coming -- let me say this.

It wasn't long ago when Austin was identified in practices as a major talent who simply couldn't translate his skills to a regular-season game. Bennett, in just his second season, was the undisputed king of training camp.

I'm more than willing to wait and see if he turns out as brightly as almost every other young offensive prospect we've turned the reins over to in recent years.

Somehow I think they aren't using him on purpose to keep something for later in the season. But then I have to wonder if Garrett actually thinks like that, and I'm not sure which way to feel if he does.

Martellus Bennett is a very talented player.

And while there are only so many balls to go around on offense, Bennett is fortunate the media has been so preoccupied with Roy Williams' numbers. Otherwise, the microscope would be on M80 much harder.

I'm not worried, I think Tellus will show up more in the passing game at some point. But Tony Romo doesn't trust him yet and he's actually been here longer than Roy.

Bennett just needs to stay positive and continue working hard. Marty B is an athletic mismatch for just about anyone he will face on defense and he can make plays on off target passes that most tight ends (& some wideouts) can not.

But he's going to have to win over Tony Romo as a route runner and being where he's supposed to be first, IMO.

people need to remember that Texas A&M was a very crappy, passing offense while he was there

so he's still developing as a receiver

I predicted 7-10 TDs for him this year

what a fool I was!

I made the same prediction. But I'll just agree and say you're the fool.

I think the same thing...

I think he has laid out the season with how he is going to unfold his playbook, I think that makes a lot of sense to do.

Unfortunately, I think this is a bad tactic in not using a talented player though. earlier in the year, he was getting a bunch of Redzone opportunities and now he is an after thought.

He's contributed to our success, but just not the way we thought he would. Winning obscures a lot of deficiencies.

He is not living up to the hype but is contributing in other ways. The guy is extremely talented and still very young. I think he will eventually come into his own. As others have noted, there just aren't enough rocks to go around with the logjam at the top.

I thought that Martellus was going to be a bigger part of the passing game from what I saw during the pre-season,that has yet to happen.Realistically I don't see how he can be targeted in the passing game all that much. There are too many mouths to feed in the passing game and only one ball to go around. It would be nice to see Martellus targeted in the red zone, his size provides a heck of a mismatch.

Also, with his great blocking skills, arent you sleeping a little bit easier if Witten goes down? Before someone jumps on me as if I am saying they are the same player, no, I am simply saying we are not as bad off if Witten goes down, as maybe another position like o-line or Qb

Theirs just not enough balls to go around, this offense is way too talented. I don't think theirs a problem with him at all, in due time he'll have a big game.

I always thought our 2 X-factors on offense were Felix and Martellus. Let's see what the second half of our season has to offer.

I hope and expect big things.

Not really and if Austin and some of the others keep getting open he probably won't, there's only 1 ball.
He's a damn good blocker though

Couple of things I have noticed about Marty B the last couple of games.
He's gotten better at the holding calls.
He is no longer asking Romo what he's supposed to be doing on a play.
He is great at blocking.
Give the guy time. He's gonna be really good!
