I'm not talking about just wilford either, though that could be, but is not as appealing to me..........

I'm wondering if maybe a package deal for Ted Ginn would not make more sense, having one great player on a team that is rebuilding is not practical when u can use him to get the players needed to fill several spots at once by trading him, think about the Hershel Walker trade..............

Looking at their final roster they went short in both offensive linemen and cb's the two places we went long, just made me do a little wishful thinking...............

I like the idea. but i dont see it happening.Jerry seems to think having Owens is all he needs at WR. he could not be more wrong.teams need more than one good wideout these days.PERIOD!

It wouldn't surprise me, but I don't think Ginn would be involved. I am sure Parcells would love to have Allan Ball though and another lineman.

Side question: Is it just me, or does Ginn not seem as fast as he was in college?

The only player the Dolphins have I would want is John Beck as our 3rd QB. Since that isn't happening I hope Jerry doesn't even consider anyone else.

He is as fast but the guys he is now playing against are a lot faster then the ones in college, so it just appears he is slower. That is a bad thing for a player who made his rep on his speed; you get to the pros and just about everyone is faster and quicker then 90% of the guys you played against in college.
Reggie Bush is the best current example of that. He was awesome in college- just above average in the pros so far, with an OCCASIONAL great play.

Extreme Ohio State fan here, and I'll come right out and say it, he has never seemed as fast since his foot injury in the National Championship game against Florida. He used to be so fast, it really made you double take, rewind, or whatever you had to do to see it again. Now, he looks fast, and he's still faster than most, but he doesnt have that insane speed anymore.

Oh...and I'd of course love to see him with a star on his helmet. One thing though, there are probably gonna be big salary cap implications for Miami if they traded him, he was a top 10 pick afterall.

Man if we traded for Ted Ginn I'd be ecstatic this kid can flat out ball. His speed would have to be respected and his return ability but I doubt they give him up he is their #1 WR now.

He looked pretty fast on that punt return he took to the house in the pre-season.

Ted Ginn has been a disappointment in Miami...to call him "great" is dilirium. He'd be a nice young addition that may develop, but right now he's not as good as Crayton.

Aside...I'd take Jackson over Ginn any day of the week. Jackson plays taller and bigger than Ginn and was a more polished receiver in my opinion.

I hope his reasoning is deeper than that and he has learned that we have to develop talent within and not cripple the team as a whole with big moves that cost too much in terms of players lost and salary cap hits. We need to have the ability to draft and develop talent or this team will quickly go back to the land of mediocrity.

Thats the problem. he refuses to draft a WR in the First round.he's had chance after chance to do it.he does not think it's a big deal. and he's wrong.

How do you know that's what he is thinking?

Could it be that there was no one worth drafting?

In retrospect, D. Bowe (or maybe Robert Meachem, but he was injured all last year) looks like a good choice, but getting two number one's from Cleveland was hard to pass up at the time (wasn't that what we got for our 1st round pick?). Who in this year's draft was a must have receiver? I'm sure someone will turn out to be a good pick in retrospect, but no one appeared to be an obvious choice, especially given the high failure rate and slow to make an impact receivers typically are.

The reality is neither of us can read Jerrys mind and I'm just glad to see that Jerry isn't making wild trades or great reaches in a panic to try and fix a problem that may or may not exist at the expense of crippling the team's cap, future drafts or competitive longevity. If we were'nt hit so bad with injuries, I think we might be fine with what we have this year @ WR and we still may be if Hurd and Austin can come back and contribute. I'm really excited and optimistic about Austin and hope he can come back strong.

Lastly, I think it might be good for this team to struggle a little in the first half of the year so they don't get cocky and complacent. This team really needs to learn how to reach a crescendo at the end of the season and playoffs, not mid season and ending with another thud in the playoffs.

Like I've mentioned in other posts, if Dallas can play like they did in 07 during the 6 game winning streak after losing to the Patriots at the end of this year and most importantly in the playoffs, they can beat anyone.

To get him it would cost us too much. Unless Parcells still has a thing for Carpenter and we add some of our corner depth and a low pick we would be trading parts of our team that would not make it worth it. Would be nice to have him and yes a second WR/not TE threat would be nice. Believe me, when Austin and Hurd get healthy we won't be sweating the 2nd WR threat as much.

In this order the passes go to: Owens, Witten, Crayton/Austin, Hurd/Bennett Jones/Barber. Remember, Witten is the key to this whole thing. Do you really want to give Witten 20-30 less opportunities a season? I don't........ But I would like someone other than Witten to take the heat off of T.O. Shall we have a running game to do that this year? Absolutely!

_ One other thing, I'm probably going to get some hackling over this and believe me I'm not overly interested myself but what happened to all the Terry Glenn talk? Wouldn't he be more valuable at this point if he could prove health permitting? I'd take a 80% TG over 100% Ginn right now.
