Nope. It was Zeke. Zeke would’ve been great with Romo and a lot of other QBs.
I guess a 4th round rookie QB that significantly contributed to a team getting the #1 seed isn’t worthy of discussion?
You heard it here everybody! You’re a loon for saying Dak’s rookie year was great.
To me it was Zeke. 2016 was ridiculous. He carried that team to 13-3.
Emmitt didn't do much his rookie year.
No, it’s because you can’t see the clear context as to why he was good.
Dak got OPOY as a rookie. Let's see Parsons get DPOY before you go assuming he's the best Cowboy rookie of all time. You may still think Parsons is better, but the awards speak for themselves.
So did Dorsett.
He had a great OL and RB that year, no denying that. He still played amazing for a rookie in what was widely considered a doomed year after Romo went down.
Good? He set NFL records and beat a record that Brady had for almost a decade. Just stop man. You are embarrassing yourself. You cant punish players because they have great teammates around them. Zeke wouldnt have done what he did on the Jets either. Do you think Lamb or Gallup are as successful without Cooper? You are punishing the QB of the Cowboys for the FO of the Cowboys drafting well? LOL. Do you see how that sounds?
LOL Still dont like Parsons. Has he earned the star? Another clueless poster here. Parsons had DROY locked up in week 10. Dak didnt win OPOY he one OROY. if you are going to tru and make someone look bad, at least get the awards right.
Listen, it’s a Cowboys message board. I get it. Go Dak!
I have no problem admitting he was a good Rookie QB.
Im just not capable of ignoring the context as to why he was so good like you are but hey…. It’s a Cowboys forum.
I gotta give the nod to Micah on top rookie in history…. Mainly for his versatility. He has played multiple positions and handled all his assignments with incredible skill and intelligence.
Can’t think of another rookie that has been asked to do more from day 1… and has had his kind of impact.
No disrespect to other names mentioned on this thread either— we have been blessed with some amazing rookie sensations over the years.
I don't hate Parsons, he has definitely earned his star. OROY is what I meant to say Dak won his rookie year. Thank you for correcting me. Parsons has not yet won DROY but no doubt he will get it.
I don’t believe this to be correct, I think it was 12 games in 1965. Anyway Bob Hayes as to be considered in the top 5. Is IMPACT was not just to the Cowboys, but to the entire league as he is credited to having the Zone defense created.
In 1965 the Cowboys went 7-7 in a14 game season, their first non losing year.
Hayes played in 13 of those games.
So why was Micah so good? All world DL? Great coach? Since you love giving credit to everyone else when you blatantly miss on players projections at the draft. He was also a GREAT rookie QB. As evidenced by the records he broke, but hey. It was everyone else but him.
Micah is so good because he’s an elite pass rusher. Has nothing to do with anyone but his own natural ability.
Got it! I’m not sure why I have been thinking I was around when there was only 12 games. Lol
But you didn't ask if Zeke would have been great with Romo.. you asked if Dak would have had the same success in Cincinnati or some such.. Sure Zeke would have been great with Romo. My counter is that Dak would have been really good with the Cowboys with Derrick Henry..
Dak got thrown to the wolves as a 4th round rookie and led the team to a 13-3 record. Zeke was a huge part of that. However. Dak not cracking under the pressure of playing on the biggest stage in football helped this team a lot as well. Him not throwing a pick for 160 plus pass attempts and protecting the football was huge as well. One thing about Dak that we have seen countless rookie QBs lack is mental fortitude. But I guess that was someone else too.
