Is Murray fiddling while two teams "burn?"

I started watching the game with a bit of an annoyance yesterday. Fox reported that Romo had to take a shot before the game which perked my ears up and had me watching his movements. He didn't look comfortable and my wife giggled when Romo scrambled for that first down on an early drive. Did anyone notice how slow he looked? To me, he didn't appear to be moving well.

And now the question that is going to start my roast. Has he now become injury prone? Before you start lighting your torches, hear me out. Tony is a warrior and this team would not have near the success it's had if weren't him. He's saved Garrett's job many times because I believe that Tony has achieved success in spite of Garrett's offenses. A lot of those plays have been because of Romo not Garrett (when JG was the playcaller). Is this a little too late now? Have we (Jerry Jones) beat up Romo too much now? All those times of asking him to win games and take all those hits because of an inefficient line aged our QB to the point where he's now "one hit away" from a significant injury?

So how does Murray fit into this? As I watched our D stuff Murray time after time after time, I went from happy to angry. I can't believe that either no tried or Murray didn't listen to reason. Philly is all wrong for Murray. Most of us probably knew this already. I am sure the Philly fan base is calling for Kelly's head and pretty soon they'll be calling out Murray as well. I just don't understand the need for more money in a place that was all wrong for him when "if" the Cowboys had made a run this year and if Murray was a part of that, endorsements would be calling his name.

Our running game has been, "meh." Randle is playing with a lot of guts but Darren looks better. We can't run by committee anymore. We have to pick one and ride it. I believe we can be fine with Weeden (as I stick my finger in my mouth and barf). Our D is going to have to help a lot more now. We are going to have to take advantage of Weeden's arm and start taking shots down field. Even if they aren't completed, we are going to have to do it. Teams will be looking to shut down the running game and make us win on Weeden's arm. A positive note is that with Dez hurt, those WR's who normally don't see first team practice, have had practice time with Weeden. So there may be some good chemistry there.

I stated last year (after wanting JG gone for many years) that Garrett had proven that he was worthy of being a head coach. Now he's going to have to coach. He's going to have rally his team around Weeden (as I try not to barf again). This team can thrive but they are going to have to believe it. They cannot make the turnovers they did in the first game nor the penalties in yesterdays game. They are going to have to be pretty close to mistake free on the offensive side. I pray that the only fiddling done is in Philly.

He's getting old and they are starting to put too much on him. He was starting to do too much himself.. It just seems like we were reverting to our old pass happy ways and it bit us in the butt.. Gotta get back to the run game and stick with it even when it seems to not be working...

I think we were about to do just that in the second half yesterday but all those insane penalties kept us behind the sticks. Philly d was starting to leak some in the second half

I believe the Eagles, Murray and the Cowboys all are wishing Chip Kelly didn't get involved at this point.

While Murray has not produced in Philly so far i do have to admit that I wish he was still our back. He is a very good player and if we would be better off with him. His style is better suited for our offense.

Every time Romo is touched we worry about his back. Now his shoulder will also be a concern going forward. Yes he is injury prone at this point and defenders are allowed to late hit and cheap shot him without consequence. He will have to compensate by avoiding contact like he did last season. But that's hard to do in football.

Often, people overlay their personal norms, values, morals, etc. onto others. In Murray's case, some people believe Dallas offered him enough to stay. That determination is made because they read or hear an offered contract amount and weigh that amount against their self-perception of what is satisfactory for themselves.

Unfortunately, the world is materialistic. It is typical for people to desire more than less. Murray was confronted with a possible finite choice: a) get paid the most now or b) settle for less and possibly never see that much money again. The current Cowboys management (which is another factor some people apply their personal reasoning upon also) did not wish to fulfill the first option, so Murray opted for the second choice. Murray did what is typical. It is atypical for people, especially professional athletes, to willingly choose the second option.

Personally, my issue with Murray remains the same now as it was last spring. The writing was on the wall. Dallas had demonstrated flexibility during the contract negotiations but not to the point they would ever fold and hand Murray what he expected. Murray should have signed elsewhere on the first day free agency opened, not several days into it. His rigid stalling ultimately restricted Dallas' free agent choices to Darren McFadden. In my opinion, Murray screwed his old team more than his new team or himself.

This latest injury to Romo begs the front office to take a QB with one of our top 3 picks in next year's draft.

Jerry is doing the same thing with Romo as he did with Aikman, instead of preparing for the future by drafting a QB every other year or so to find a successor, we wait until the guy suddenly retires and then get desperate and reach for a QCarter and sign a few ex-baseball players.

Philly is all wrong for Murray but you can't blame him for leaving. They offered twice as much. Where Philly screwed up was trading for Bradford. He's a bust and Foles is better.

I definitely agree about Bradford-vs-Foles. I said that when they got rid of Foles, the Eagles no longer worried me. That said, I think Sanchez (not a fan of his either, but ..) is a better quarterback than Bradford and I was really worried in the second half of yesterday's game that they would put him in the game. While he's not a great quarterback, he would have done better than Bradford without a doubt.

I guarantee it won't be that way this time around. Stephen and Will McClay won't let that happen. I'm pretty sure we will be drafting a successor to Romo next draft.

I think so too. I also think that if Romo would have made it through this season relatively injury free, they would not take a QB next year.

He barely got touched against the Giants and needed a shot to play the next week. He didn't take many hits against the Eagles and he's now out with a broken collarbone. He's breaking down physically.

Someone needs to shake the Jones twins. Our QB situation will be dire very soon.
