I ask this becuz its going to be mission critical to our draft..salary cap and offensive philosophy going for ward.

Do we do what we always seem to do and over-pay players that are questionable because we hope they are the answer?

Or do we plan on making the change and let Murray go FA..?

I don't really know.

This team has so many needs to fill going forward and with the questions at HC now..

I like the guy when he's healthy and the OL plays well.

But he's rarely healthy and I think the OL is still 2-3 guys away from actually being a force we can rely on.

How does this play out ?

I think Murray stays, has played most of the season this year and going hit over 1000 on the ground. Sign him to a contact that has a clause in it, stay hurt don't get paid. Or play the whole season and you get X amount dollars.

No, Jerry will make him the highest paid RB in history, because that's what Jerry does.

Jerry will overvalue his current roster ... give him a Marion Barber type contract.

They will not pay Murray. They don't even use him effectively.

when your pachyderm can't step into the circle for the "show", then you lose entertainment value...the ring-leader of this circus could look for another....let's just hope that he hired enough of the guys with the huge shovels to clean up after them....

Murray probably doesn't even want to stay in Dallas with Romo changing the plays so much.

If he keeps the injury prone label and misses time next season, yeah, probably.

But you have to remember: when used properly, he's very productive. Even with one of the worst run games in the NFL, Murray is going to break 1000 yards this year.

DeMarco is 25 and the best running back we've had since MBIII was in his prime, IMO. I would like to keep him around.

You know..

That's Interesting.

I never thought about that.

But its totally plausible.

As a RB I'd too be concerned about the lack of commitment the organization makes to the position.

It is going to be a "play him and see" situation. One thing about the cap and running backs is they don't usually do any better than their 1st rookie contract seasons. So pretty much you need to draft a cheap back and thank Demarco for his time here. Would love to see him play in 16 also.

I don't know if it is a good idea to give a big contract to an injury prone player. They really need to develop another RB next season.

He will be here next year.

He has been injured quite a few times and hasn't had a true breakout season yet.

I don't believe there is a team that will break the bank for him yet.

Also look at Jerry's extension history regarding players. That plays mainly in our favor.

When is the last time we let a good player walk? Heck we rarely even let bad players walk.

He's a top 5 back in the NFL this year imo. I think we've got to keep him. If we make the playoffs, he can be credited as much as or more than Romo. I'm not a Romo hater by any means, but there's been a few games where I thought Murray was the guy who got the offense rolling.

He is under contract for 2014 so no decision has to be made this offseason.

Now his performance next year will determine if he gets a second contract or not. A big part of this will be injury, can he stay healthy next year?

The other wildcard is who the head coach is going to be. Barring a miracle and winning a division title, Garrett is gone. So how will the new coach want to use Murray? Thats probably the biggest question mark right now.

This.

The part about how the next HC views RB will make a factor.
