Is no news good or bad regarding Rolando McClain?

yeah there was a reason he was a first round draft choice. And what he did in college was not all smoke and mirrors like Barbie was.

Yep. I don't think people realize how good McClain is when he actually plays. He was coming off having not played in two years and still immediately contributed. People were talking about replacing Sean Lee with him early in the season. He slowed down later in the season because of concussions and everyone forgot how good he was. Potential to be a top 5 ILB and still very young. Guys like this don't become available at 26 years old unless they have big off the field issues (see Greg Hardy). It's a gamble but the reward is very big.

If I didn't see the contracts, I would guess that they were planning to starting Brinkley at MLB with Lee at WLB and Hitchens at SLB with Lee/Hitchens in the Nickel; however, Gachkar got a 2 year, 5.5M contract with 2.2M guaranteed. which seems like they are expecting him to start.

I think Gachkar is more an outside LB, possibly the will.

I love how people forgot how good he actually was! He only missed a game or two, but it was the 2 playoff games that he missed that people remember (although he played in the Detroit game for a series or two).

Whats funny is, and maybe I am in the minority on this, but I always felt when he was playing we had a chance. Almost similar to the way I feel about Romo. He is fun to watch because he makes it look so easy! His injuries were almost a blessing IMO because it gave Hitch an opportunity to play MLB and learn.

I think most of us remember. He's just such a headache you can't sign him to a deal that reflects what he's worth athletically, because there's a good chance he's going to knucklehead himself out of the league again in a year or two. Like, a really, really good chance.
So you're left trying to figure out what kind of deal you can do that pays him enough to be happy but not too much that you screw over your defensive plans when he gets popped with another joint and rolls over a traffic cop in his slow-rolling Lexus next season.

It's hard to say since he was an ILB in the 3-4. I see him at SLB or MLB more than WLB.

He was an outside guy at Missouri and played for the Cowboys LB coach. What little I've seen of him at SD he was really active like Lee and that is the spot they need someone to backup - besides Hitchens.

Wouldn't mind having mcclain back. But if he gets suspended for 4 games that'll suck. That should lower his price a bit though.

Much like Hitchens, he seems like a smart guy that probably studies well and could play any of the 3 positions if needed.

I have been in the slow rolling Lexus...
It was awesome.

Bradford ran that "run and gun" stuff in college. He should be better than Foles in Kelly's offense. But, I think NFL defenses are fast enough to shut it down when they figure it out, and I think they already have. Unfortunately for Bradford if this offense doesn't work anymore, he'll get the blame.

Bradford has to get comfortable on that leg first. How many games is that going to take ... 6, 7?
And, all those brainiac moves that Chip made will have to get comfortable playing with each other. How many games will that take?
