Parcells used to say you start the season with the top third of your roster but you could very well end it with the bottom third.

Romo (collarbone) won't take the field for Saturday's preseason game at Los Angeles, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.

Romo's prescribed preseason reps mimic his practice schedule, but for good reason. There's little reason to introduce contact with a month remaining before Week 1 of the regular season. Expect Romo to make a brief appearance during the second and/or third preseason games in order to fit in a semblance of reps with the first-team offense

It's very unusual for your starters not to play a series or two. Look around the league. Starters play at least briefly. But this team is so poorly mismanaged that it isn't surprising here.

No its not unusual for established veteran players, especially in skill positions to not play in the first preseason game. Try again.

It is certainly not being run like an "iron against iron" camp.

There is a clear upper layer of untouchables on this roster and they have status.

It just bothers me when teams have limited practice opportunities now versus the past.

If I were running a team, no healthy vet misses a padded practice.
