Is Sensabaugh going to start at SS?

I was going to ask this in the other Sensabaugh thread but people are too busy talking about ak-47's and glocks, I didn't hear much about what the guy's actual role on this team will be.

It's a one year deal..so is he starting with Hamlin at FS? Or are we still having Scandrick at that "star" role with Sensabaugh at SS during dime and nickel packages?

I have friends who are big Jag fans and they are pretty high on the guy and think he's starting material. He was in injured in 07 and had a productive 08 season.

I have no idea what their plans are for him but he is a good player and not a thug or cancer. He's definitely an upgrade from what is on our roster sans hamlin @ safety.

So... are ak47s legal then? Is it a state by state thing? Or nationwide?

I think he is depth at SS and more of a one year ST guy that might help bridge the depth chart if we draft another safety.

I also have to wonder if they signed him because they recently thought they will not be able to get keith davis back or if it was just the new ST coach wanting someone familiar with his style to help others.

Here's what Mel Kiper had to say about him in his 2009 Free Agency Data Sheet, for those interested . . . .

Firstly, he had him ranked as the 6th best Safety available in FA, after O Atogwe (who was franchised), B Dawkins, Y Bell (Miami re-signed him), Sean Jones (who signed a 1-year deal with the Eagles since), and J Phillips.

"Picked the right time to play the best football of his career. After beginning the season in a backup role, he was inserted into the lineup in late September and took full advantage of the opportunity. Known for his ability to excel in the box, Sensabaugh was tied for tops on the team with 4 interceptions. After investing four years to develop his talents, logic dictates that management wants to re-sign him. But they figure to face some competition for his services."

Anyway, I think he could be useful playing the box for us in certain packages, plus add certain depth behind Hamlin.

A semi automatic AK is legal in most states I think. If it wasn't a legal firearm do you not think he would have been charged with it?

I think the starters all ought to earn their jobs this off season, not have them handed to them. Every single guy. I proclaim no one a starter until they earn it.

One other positive with this signing is that it gives us more degrees of freedom in the Draft.

We can really go any which way now.

Nope! Jerrah just said on 105.3 that he would be in the mix at FS.

Agreed. He got a one year deal so its not as if were stuck with him. I still want a draft pick but once again it looks like Jones is making it much easier to go BPA on draft day. Sure ILB and SS are still 'holes' but not nearly as bad as when FA started.

jerry just called him the ideal free safety for the cowboys.

So yes he will probably be a SS.

This guy apparently is a great athlete. He currently holds the record for the vertical jump at the NFL scouting combine. Do we finally have a S who can make a play while the ball is in the air?

Semi-auto AK-47's are legal firearms. The automatic versions are the ones that require a Class III license. I do not believe they are banned by any state, the only one I can think that might be an exception is California or Illinois as they have pretty strict gun laws.

The reason that his firearms were an issue is the way he was transporting them. The handgun was loaded. You do not need a permit to carry/transport an unloaded firearm in which the ammo is separated from the gun and the firearm is locked up. You do require a CCW permit to carry a loaded handgun though. The surprising thing is Florida is one of the easiest states in the country to get a CCW permit and it is recognized by around 30-35 states. Not sure if TN happens to be one of them though.
