T.O seems like he has lost a step but Romo also seems like he has no zip on the ball. I was laughing when Eli manning made the Pro Bowl but when I watched him last night...Man he had some nice zip on the ball. I guess Eli belongs this year and Romo is having a average year.

Maybe this is the JG play calling. What happened to the pound the running game and shot gun spread formations with quick slants? It seems like its all delayed "draws" and 25 yard crossing routes. JG has let us down he is no the "genius" OC that Jerry has tried to portray him as. Did anyone let JG know that we signed Roy williams? Come on.

Exactly! Geez... I don't think I have seen a quick slant yet this year.... But if you look at a team like the Panthers, they run it with success all the time. It's a great way to catch a blitzing team off guard yet we don't use it. :banghead:

T.O. Still has 1 more good year left in him and next year with a healthy RW it will take some pressure off of him.

Crazy that Romo is having an average year when he's missed three games and is still putting up better numbers than Eli.

I'll take the "Wins" stat over the "self indulgent" stat any and every day. You keep right on justifying though... Don't let me stop ya. ;)

Thread Killer. You destroyed the TO hate party with this succinct post.
TO is getting old but he is still a ways from being considered past his prime.

The better question is... Will Jason Garrett get back to putting TO in positions to make plays by moving him around or will he continue to run TO out to the corner and make the double team an easy task for opposing DCs?

I can't really add anything else to your post so I will end mine right here --->. ;)

We all know you and some others love you some T.O., but do you not care about the drops and the ridiculous self-serving whining he does? Contrary to what you want to believe I, and many others here, do not "hate" T.O. I defended his aquisition countless times to Cowboys and non-Cowboys fans up until sometime this season. I felt his pros outweighed his cons significantly. But when he starts doing this criticism of the team (EVEN AFTER A WIN!) thing for the 3rd time in his career it has to turn an objective fan off a bit. Combine that with his penchant for drive killing drops and not fighting for the ball or finishing all of his routes and he stops becoming the guy you feel inclined to defend. That's not media hype or hate or any of that nonsense - it's just reality. Despite his turning me off a bit, I will root for him to carry us to the SB because I am a Cowboys fan. But yes, like many others, I'd like to see him and hear him act like more of a team player and less like an individual.

I guess you're either for him or against him. There's no middle ground... I happen to be for him and I remain hopefully that Garrett will get back to his old creative ways. The rest of that stuff you said... I've heard it 1000 times before... Consider yourself converted. Bravo to you.

T.O. has 10 touchdowns this year. The leading receiver in the NFL has 11. He's probably going to go over 1000 yards again on Sunday. Factor in the 3 games without Romo (2 of them would have been against horrible defenses, if only he had someone who could throw the damn ball downfield) and he's actually had a pretty good season. Just not compared to his usual stats.

T.O. is still a very good receiver. He takes care of his body and he works as hard as any receiver in the league (whether ppl want to admit it or not).

exactly what i was gonna post...and he was robbed a touchdown in week one, or two.

He's still a good player, but he's not worth the trouble any longer. He hasn't lost a step? Watch the first Commander game where he was bottled up down the stretch. Steve Smith draws a lot of double coverage, but he still produces.

He's no longer elite. And his attitude will get worse as his skills continue to erode.

Terrell Owens is not the same player he was when he was 25.

But then again, what player is?

He is still a dominant player who is a force to be feared, but he needs help from his Quarterback.

I love how people harp on how many Touchdowns Tony Romo has.

When you have Terrell Owens, Jason Witten, Roy Williams, Marion Barber III, you should be putting up better numbers than most Quarterbacks.

If you ask Cowboys fans do they want the Ring or the Numbers, I think we know what the overwhelming answer is.

And his offensive line, and his coordinator.

Owens started to slow last year and has continued the trend this year.

The most noticeable change last year was his lateral quickness which impacted his ability to make long runs after the catch - a trademark in his career until he was a Cowboy.

This lateral quickness has further declined this year--making it more difficult for him to gain separation in tight coverage.

He has also lost some overall agility which makes it difficult for him to adjust to balls (although this was never his strength) and gain yards after the catch.

Owens hasn't lost any straight ahead spead--but this is often the last thing to go. See Daryl Green as an example.

Owens made his entire living off the deep ball last year; he made ONE play after the catch that I remember (against Philadelphia the first time) and it was by breaking a single tackle against a dropped coverage.

Everything else was just him killing people deep.

And again, he never was a great route runner (i.e., never had great lateral quickness in his routes). He's never been the type of guy who gains separation by planting and driving off a cut. He's a straight-line and soft angle route guy who separates with pure speed.

Your first two sentences say it all. Some people in this world see only black and white. The world is full of gray. I see the good and bad in TO and even that horrible choker Romo. I'm not "converted", just disappointed that he started acting like the T.O. that has caused one of the best talents of our time to play for 3 different teams due to HIS actions. I want him to dominate for the next 5 games, but I'll still acknowledge that he is selfish and immature with very questionable hands for a great WR. Acknowledging someone's warts actually gives you credibility and makes you look less biased. Everybody has flaws, why is it so hard to admit that T.O. certainly has his share? It doesn't mean he's not a great talent. He's just an immature one who is very quick to point fingers at his teammates and coaches. Do you not see that? Honestly?

I've had this discussion many times before and stayed up all night debating to no end. I'm not about to have another. His importance to the offense won't be realized by some until he is no longer with us drawing double teams. I'm off to bed but feel free to continue. I'll read it in the morning...

I don't see it. What I see is a guy who has his comments so carefully scrutinized and broken down that every little thing becomes "pointing fingers" or "whining."

If it's not word-for-word what's in the "Athletes Guide to Cliche,
Generic, Nauseating, PC Statements," millions of people insist he's "throwing *insert person/people here* under the bus" and "whining/complaining."

For instance, I saw a post on another board claiming that Owens threw several teammates under the bus when he said "we had too many penalties" after the Giants game because he didn't commit any in that game.

That's absolutely absurd. We live in such an advanced time period, yet we still demand that our athletes give us the most hackneyed lines in history to the point where they're not even allowed to semi-accurately analyze their team's performance?
