Forgive me for another thread of this sort, but I'm hard-pressed to think the NFL doesn't have it out for Dallas.

Le'Veon Bell begins his 2nd straight year suspended for violating the league's substance abuse policy, and for the 2nd straight year gets his suspension reduced on appeal. Meanwhile, Demarcus Lawrence gets his 1st suspension for violating the same policy, but his appeal is denied.

Can anyone explain what exactly the difference is, besides one player being in Pittsburg and the other being in Dallas?

Bell wasnt suspended for a failed drug test, it was for missing a drug test. Its not apples to apples.

I'd say the NFL likes the revenue that Dallas brings in.

I'd also say many of the powers that be would probably prefer that Dallas does not win a Super Bowl. jmo

And yet there was one. And thats not even the argument. The argument is that its not an apples to apples comparison...and its not.

except that it is.....failed test=missed test

they reached a settlement before the verdict on the appeal was read and for whatever reason the NFL was happy with 3 games and so was Bell, who claimed the whole thing would get tossed, which it didn't

Plus he still stays in the same stage of testing. So next time will still be only 4 games instead of 10.

There has always been an east coast bias. The giants kicker gets 1 game for domestic violence. His ex-wife named over 20 incidents.

So I guess the NFL is sending the message that it's better to skip the test than get caught.
The NFL took the bird in the hand......they got 3 games instead of Bell taking the case to the Federal Court like Brady......they want to avoid that at all costs and in this case it means one less game and Bell gets 4 games next time instead of 10.....Bell took the 3 games pretty quickly after stating he would be playing Week 1

The NFL is actually PRO Cowboys. Let me explain:
  • the top three jerseys selling jerseys are Cowboys, so there's a huge Cowboys fan base in every city you goto. Arizona, LA, Washington ect...
  • Cowboys draw huge tv ratings. People love and love to hate the Cowboys. They are news makers and click baters
  • News and advertisement is good for the NFL. The Cowboys are in the news, on ESPN for anything and everything they do.
  • Believe it or not, Jerry does have a lot of pull with other owners and the NFL. He's tight and the LA Rams owner and paved the way for them to move there. He's buds with the Raiders ownership that's why you see so many deals with the raiders ( albeit for lower level guys). He's made the owners a lot of money in tv deals and advertisements. They respect him.
The Cowboys are good for the NFL and the NFL knows it.

I'm not sure but, I thought the Cowboys didn't share the revenue from jersey and other merch sales.
