Just a month and a half ago the cure to the Rangers ills was that Showalter was gone and players could finally "be themselves."

It maybe the media that's responsible ... but ...

I don't want to cast aspersions to Wade but it's VERY UNCOMFORTABLE to watch Cowboys players say he "treats us as men" ... "lack of pressure" etc. .... and just a few weeks ago, well this same "respect, " loose atmosphere that the Rangers players were happy to get from Ron Washington ... well it isn't doing them much good nowadays.

Well maybe it isn't about either of them .... OK who is better as a GM, Jerry or Jon Daniels .... (neither had any prior experience, so why were they hired in the first place :)

don't you ever compare the boys to the sorry butt rangers ever ever again.

change of attitudes is very big with new coaches, its how most new coaches pull off good things very fast the teams responds to the new attitude very favorably.

Wade has a three year window in my opinion.

Its just an endless cycle ... you get a "players coach" and when they're losing the media and fans scream that they need a tough, hardnosed, no nonsense guy. When you get that guy and the team isn't winning then you bring in a player's coach, and the media and fans think that now you're suddenly going to see all these guys suddenly turn into better players because "they can be themselves". Rinse, lather, repeat.

Two big differences:

One, the Rangers are the baseball equivalent of the Arizona Cardinals. They've always lost and management doesn't seem to really care if they lose. It's not like they were a top team with Showalter -- they just don't have the overall talent.

And two, Washington is a first-time manager. Wade isn't. That's the risk with a first-time head coach. Even if he's gotten good reviews and the players seem to like him, you never know when the Peter Principle will rear its ugly head.

It's even more simple than that. Baseball all comes down to pitching in the end and a manager has little if any control over that. An NFL coach can make a difference thanks to parity.

Well, the tough disciplanirian, stubborn style didn't do this team much good now did it? The players tuned the coach out and he quit after the season.

Maybe is change was what the doctor ordered.

Rangers pitching SUCKS! End of story! Ron Washington can't make the players pitch and the batters hit.

Did you seriously just compare a Baseball Manager to an NFL head Coach. Its apples an oranges.

Great, something else to worry about, but you may have a valid point. I hope this "laid back" atmosphere doesn't lead to boneheaded plays and penalties. I guess we'll see.

Do you realize how many penalties we had last year?

It can't get any worse.

Even the great Parcells coudn't prevent that.

No, but penalties didn't seem near as rampant under Bill as they did under Campo. During Campo's term I remember wondering if the Cowboys players were ********, it was so bad that the center's were jumping offsides:D . I think the atmosphere under Campo was pretty "laid back", not to say Wade and Campo are the same coach though.

Please go look up the stats for team penalties then.

You need a refresh on how many penaties we really had.

Well I won't do it because:

1. I'm too lazy.

2. I'm too afraid to see the damage. Too embarrassing.

I guess I'll take your word for it, but it's hard to imagine them being worse under Bill than Campo. So you think it won't get worse with this laid back atmosphere?? We do still have the penalty machine Flozell Adams.
