Is there evidence other teams were going to pounce on Lawrence early? Or were they trigger happy?

Most of the projections I've seen had him late in the second. I'm assuming Jerry and Co felt he was not going to make it to them in the second? Has anyone confirmed this was likely, or did the Boys just get trigger happy?

The price was high and I am not sure about losing another valuable pick.
Marinelli was on board with the trade and it was his arse on the line so I'll wait and see.

Regardless. We had him as a first round value. We got him. Drop off after was steep. That pushed cost substantially

Sure and that is why I don't think they are complete idiots. I understand what they did and at the end of the day it is akin to reaching for need.

true...simply can't argue that point. Just watched his tape. Sure he made plays behind the LOS but he was also handled quite a bit by bigger Tackles...he is SMALL guys. Unless they see him really filling out quickly, I simply don't see this guy justifying going this high....big reach IMO

meh the 2nd and 3rd should have been enough to get them a couple more spots up but that is about it. If they had a first round grade on him then I think the hyperbole is unwarranted. If Crichton was out of the picture due to injury then I can appreciate why they did what they did.

Uncertainty is a pita but not an excuse for histrionics.

Jerry said at his press conference Lawrence was taken for need, then went on to explain why we needed a right end to replace Ware.

Reported multiple sources was Falcons

Yeah, unfortunately there were not many good rush ends and Atlanta was desperate.
That's why they moved just ahead of them
Don't like the trade value but if that was by our biggest need position..assuming Melton is ok at DT3

I don't think there is any question that Lawrence would have been gone. It all comes down to the evaluation of the other guys. We needed DE help.

I'm not a fan of the GT kid and if Crichton is a medical red flag then it is what it is. You live in the world as it is and not in how you want it to be.

I didn't love the trade, but when they are complete sold a player it's probably a good idea to get that player.

In 2009 they could have traded up for Max Unger, but didn't. They were completely sold on his ability.

Do you have any idea what Lawrence was suspended for? I have to say that listening to his interviews, he seems more than a little dumb.

I really hate losing the 3rd, but both picks show promise commensurate with where they were chosen, so I would say so far, so good.

Supposedly missing team meeting, a missed class and something else small but not wise

If he didn't like school and cut class then that is not the end of the world. I think about half of NCAA football players have no business being in school in the first place. It's simply not for everyone.

As much as I didn't like the trade, the Max Unger situation proves what happens if you sit and wait. Because of that we make deals to get guys like Dez and Lawrence.
