With a new coach and all new staff, is this a rebuilding year for us or can we reasonably assume to at least earn a wild card spot?

They need to fix the secondary.

It's bad. Henry is slow [3.6 mil salary in 07] and Glenn is old and short.

The OL needs some work. Rivera is old and broken. Without BP on his back, will Adams regress into a lazy LT?

Our WR's are old [33?] and we need to resign Pat Crayton.

We need Ellis to come back from his injury. He's a great pass rusher.

We need a backup for Romo.

Should be an interesting off season.

It became a franchise in rebuilding mode during the middle of the season last year. That is a shame because we had so many high paid veterans in spots that need youth during rebuilding. What can you do? Parcells had no direction.

Well, we just went through four years of rebuilding with Parcells. What's the change?

This can't be a rebuilding year just because there is a new coach. I think alot of us agree with more agressive play calling on both sides of the ball, we probably don't play a wild card game and even if we do we probably go further in the playoffs. We are not losing any key free agents, we have $$ to spend. And all of the coaches will get to coach!! This team should be better!

On offense: young WR, fix the line. backup QB
On defense: FS, young CB, fix the pass rush
On special teams: find a new FG holder

So there are some areas we need to address but that will always be the case. Does that mean we are rebuilding? IMO not really.

The local media and fans said that this team underachieved, should have gone farther and that Parcells was the problem.

Now that the reported problem is removed, I expect a Superbowl contender immediately (Unless local media and fans don't know what they hell they are talking about).

No year is a rebuilding year in the NFL any more.
This isn't 1980.
The goal is to win every year.

With FA, there is too much turnover of players to take the 'rebuilding' route.
I never hear NFL people use that terminology any more but unfortunately some of the fans still do.

Hell no we're not rebuilding. That's what Washington does every year. We just need to fix a couple things an we'll be on our way.

With a good offseason plugging in the necessary holes, we should be able to compete for a bye, IMO. On the surface, the schedule looks much easier (NFC North, AFC East) but that can obviously change.
