I think it depends on his play for the season as well as how far the team feels Romo and Henson have progressed

No, he can play two, maybe three seasons more.

Bledsoe strikes me as the type who will play until no one wants him as a starting QB.

When QBs reach certain ages that is always a possibility. That said, most likely the answer is no. Unless Drew Henson develops at a rate pleasing to Bill & Jerry, et al, I don't think that is a given at all.

No, Bledsoe is still fiarly young given his overall health. I don't understand where these mediots get this perception that Bledsoe has 2 Years left before retirment. Bledsoe is in great shape and very healthy for QBs his age. If you could put a team around him I think he'll open some big eyes and win some meaningful playoof games. Just look at Elway; once all the mediots wrote him off and had him pegged for retirement, the Bromcos decide to build a team around him and BOOM - he's a 2-timing SuperBowl Champion. Bledsoe now has the WR's and RB's; we now have to give him the OL. That's the key.

I think Bledsoe is able enough to get a superbowl but never know Henson might come on in and start winning games in style and put Bledsoe out like Brady did.. Maybe it's Romo time... never know... we'll see..

I think that is the point of the question about not making the playoffs. Bill and Jerry are putting the pieces on the team and if they don't make it to the playoffs, it may change how Bledsoe is evaluated. Of course it depends on his performance. If he leads the team to 20+ points a game, but the defense gives up more or if the o-line once again struggles, Bledsoe won't be blamed. But what happens if he doesn't produce and it is his play that directly keeps Dallas from the playoffs? I am not saying that will happend, but what if?

Personally, I think any playoff appearances and playoff success hinges on the defense getting better and playing at a more dominant level and the o-line providing a strong running game. Those are the main ingredients to team success. Anything they get from Bledsoe is just gravy.

I agree. I like Bledsoe but I think the key to success for this team will be the ability to have a good consistant running game and a strong defense if those 2 areas of the team are clicking I think this team can go far.

Why not?? Elway had lost in Super Bowls before, just like Bledsoe. Bledsoe has stats to compare with some of the greatest QBs ever. If Bledsoe were to win two Super Bowls, I think he would compare favorably to Elway... aside from the obvious fact that he can't run

I think if you were a fan of the Broncos, you knew the team always had a chance to pull out a victory with Elway at the helm. Just like fans of the Cowboys back when Staubach wasleading the team. That and you knew the team would not only be in the playoffs, but would have some success in the playoffs. I don't feel that way about Bledsoe and I am not sure the majority of fans feel that way now nor when he was in Buffalo or New England.

Deadslow will want more money than Jerry is willing to pay
for an aging Qb...when he has an affordable young stud
waiting in the wings, who is way more talented. JMO:)

I just don't see the similarity. All you have is age really. Elway was "the guy" in Denver. Bledsoe is a hired gun in Dallas. Elway was mobile and an unquestioned member of the greatest ever discussions. Bledsoe isn't in that strata.

But he has quite a few come from behind victories to his credit even last year during a game it was mentioned he ranked as one of the best in that category. I will say that surprised me as well.

I agree, Peplaw, in terms of statistics, a comparison to Elway is not too much of a reach.

In terms of career arc, I can see Bledsoe ending his career like Rich Gannon did: playing till 37 or so years old, and having more success at the end of his career than he did early once he gets into the right system and with the right team. I'm conflicted about that idea, though, b/c I'm a Henson fan and would really like to see him develop, too; I like all of the QBs on the roster, for once.

Jim Harbaugh and Jake Plummer have quite a few come from behind victories as well. They don't impress me. Elway and Staubach had come from behind victories and they also led their teams to blow out wins quite a bit. Bledsoe is easily better than Harbaugh and Plummber, but he isn't close to being in the category of Elway or Staubach. Career totals don't tell the whole story of any player.
