Is this the end for Parcells?

If this has already been covered, I'll gladly delete this thread.

But barring a late-season turnaround where Romo emerges as a star, is this the end for Parcells here? Is he a man who has run out of options here?

You'd have to think so. I don't think he can mentally or physically take another year of not succeeding. I remember how much 2004 wore him out, hopefully this year isn't like that on him.

I think this is the end for Parcells unless Romo does what we're all, okay most of us is hoping he does.

Kind of goes back to the question of who won't return next year......TO or BP? If TO returns that may have more influence on BP's decision than how the book on Romo plays out this year.

I spoke to a good friend of mine tonight, before the game, who has a cousin who played for Parcells and one of our current assistant coaches at Vanderbilt many years ago. His cousin is still very close to the assistant coach. He told me that the assistant coach thinks this is Parcells last year.

Take that fwiw.

Coach sure did look tired in the press conference. Also never heard him admit that he'd been outcoached before.

I'm gonna guess that how Parcells feels about next season has a lot to do with how confident he feels about Romo. If he feels like Romo has the potential to be a winner, he might stick with it, but if he feels that he has to start over with a new QB, it's retirement time. Parcells neither has the time nor energy to rebuild with a new QB.

This is where his strategy of going with old vet QB's in an effort to win right now comes back to bite him. Had we drafted for the long hall in Parcell's early years, a good rookie QB would be ready right now. This is not all Parcell's fault either. We all know JJ wanted to see what he had in QC, Hutch, and later Henson. As it is, the future rests on the shoulders of an undrafted 1AA free agent signee and short-cuts often never are.

I still say we have 10 games to go and it depends on how it turns out to determine whether he finishes the contract.

I would like to see parcells go,but the only thing that scares me is what jones would do then.Would he go get a real coach, and let him have the same power that he gave parcells,or would it go back to the way it used to be.That is the scary thing about it.

I thought he would quit last off-season.

Once the Skipper signed TO, I figured... certainly Bill will leave after this year.

One thing though. After watching every game of NFCE teams this year, This division winner may end up 9-7. Long way to go in this division. But at this point I dont think there will be 2 teams coming out for the playoffs.

If Romo shows enough flash, Parcells will give it another go. That's the only way it will work.

I think he'll be back.

He likes the team. He likes the organization. I truly think he likes Jerry. He likes Romo (for better or worse).

Even if we miss the playoffs, I think he's back.

I think it is, Dale. I think we saw it before our very eyes tonight.

Parcells thought he was building this team towards big things this year, and tonight he saw that he's failed miserably. And like you say, he's about out of buttons to push to try to fix it.

It's funny how similar our two teams are right now.

Legendary -- but tired -- coaches...veteran quarterbacks fans want benched....overhyped, but underperforming defenses (though I thought we were doing fairly well defensively before tonight). sigh

It really is. The underperfoming defenses is frustrating for them too Im sure. But the most annoying thing has to be the fact that both our QB's left off right where they finnished last year. BAD

Put yourself in Jerry's shoes. What would you do? Parcells has upgraded the talent and you have opened your checkbook to get some FA help. But it clearly isn't working. What do you do? I honestly don't know how he would answer the question.

Jerry hasn't shown to be the most patient of people. He didn't hire Parcells to have what very well might amount to a losing mark over a four-year span. I can't see Parcells returning. I don't think he'll want to, and I don't think Jerry will want him back -- barring Romo being the missing piece. And as much as I wanted Bledsoe benched, I don't see Romo being the next Roethlisberger/Brady.

Which is frustrating, because where do we turn now? So many questions.

You say funny, I say scary.

Just means the NFCE crown will be harder to get to. I see the same things out of the Giants and Eagles.

No consistency.

Commanders D is not lacking players, it is lacking scheme. Its almost like Williams is trying to keep it fresh instead of going with what he knows best.

Both sides of the ball are not being aggressive.
