Is this the reason most of us never got over the 1994 NFCC Loss?

Because the niners went on to win the SB on top of knocking us out of the playoffs? Do we as Cowboys fans forget about that 1994 NFCC loss if the Chargers won the SB that year instead of the Niners?

I know a lot of fans are still hurt by that loss because the cowboys was stopped from three peating but is it the Ring by the Niners that made it worst?

It's also how it happened.

We got screwed with what should have been a crucial Deion interference penalty that they never called when he raped Irvin and the officials decided to take a nap during the play.

I don't think so because had we won that '94 NFCC I have no doubt we would have beaten San Diego and had three straight with the fourth coming in 1995.

The AFC was the inferior conference at that time. The winner of that game was 100% certain to be the Super Bowl champion. No AFC team was going to beat either the Niners or Cowboys in the Super Bowl.

On top of that, we got into an early hole down 21-0, and tried valiantly to climb back into it, but as it turned out, the game was over by then.

It was as much the way we lost as it was the loss itself. We'd have been the only team to ever win 4 in a row. And that would be a feat unlikely to be duplicated for a very long time.

I believed this at one time, but I'm not so certain anymore.

By the end of the first half, the Cowboys had narrowed the deficit to 10 points -- in essence, they had cut the 49ers lead by 11 points in roughly 1 1/2 quarters of play.

With about two minutes remaining in the first half, the Cowboys had the ball deep in their own territory and, for some inexplicable reason, started throwing long passes. They promptly went three and out, got off an abysmal punt, and gave the ball to San Francisco on their half of the field. The 49ers proceeded to score a touchdown with eight seconds remaining, and extend their lead to 17 at halftime.

In my humble opinion, if Switzer exercises better clock management at the end of the first half, the Cowboys have an excellent opportunity to win the game in the second half.

That wasnt the only bad ref decision. We got hosed on a couple of other calls too.

The non call on Deion was pathetic though.

This. If we get that call we get three SBs in a row, maybe 4 in a row overall.

I loved Barry for getting a unsportsmanlike penalty after that non-call.

My blood pressure still goes up thinking about that call.

That team should've 4 peated. It was absoluetely loaded.

They won '95 in spite of Switzer.

Agree, the reason why the loss was so tough is that we should have won. The P/I call was huge and was so obvious. Also, the unsportsmanlike call was horrendous as well. I really think the game would have ended differently if those calls were reversed.

If I am not mistaken, Emmitt was also banged up in that game with a pulled hamstring.....Aikman was unbelievable as well as Irvin.

That loss sucks. Had the team not turned into a party house after Johnson left I'm 100% certain we would have won no matter how bad the officials screwed us. That team went downhill the second Switzer took over.

Didn't the Cowboys have like four or five turnovers in that game ?

I know that Aikman had three. And I am pretty sure that Steve young was not sacked.

The Cowboys may indeed have been the better team...Just not that day. They gave that game to the 49ers.

Yeah, the turnovers were the reason the Niners got off to such a fast start.

seriously man, never in the history of the SB's before or since has the outcome been such a foregone conclusion. That is not hyperbole, I am sure if you polled alot of people that SB would the winner for the one people were most sure of the outcome. So its ironic you would pick that one for such a question structure. The Cowboys would have absolutely killed the Chargers. The sting is taken out of that one because it was in the middle of a 3 of 4 championship run, something only duplicated once.

Emmitt was not a factor in that game. It was probably Troy and Michael's best game, aside from the deep hole they dug so early.
