Is this the worst collection of Dallas receivers since the Gailey years?

We have a whole offseason to prepare and adjust for losing Owens.

I'd like to believe we'll have enough time to adjust for that.
Sadly, there is no time. The whole team is on suicide watch. I'm afraid it is fatal. He was just that damned important. Without him we don't get anywhere near 9 wins last year.

Judas Priest. You'd think we had one talented player on Offense and the rest are a barren desert.

The freaking drama over 1 guy's release is reaching epic proportions.

No doubt. I'm sad to see him go, to some degree, cause he's made some big plays for us over the last 3 years, but the way a few are acting like this is the end of the entire franchise cause of one player, while in the same breath telling you it's a team game and it's not fair cause none of it was TO's fault, is pretty weird at times.

Roy Williams is a solid #1 WR. He has already proven in Detroit that he can play the #1 role without any help (he managed to put up almost 700 yards in only 13 games, with Joey Harrington throwing him the ball and Charles Rodgers and Mike Williams as his compliments at WR).

No, Roy Williams has not yet proven that he can be an elite WR, but he is no doubt a solid #1 WR.

Crayton has also proven that he can be decent as a #2 WR for us. Posting 50 catches in 2007 being the #3 option all year, and posting 39 catches this year spliting time between being the #3 and #4 option. Let not forget, unless our #2 WR (is a legit STUD), they will be no more than the #3 option in our passing game since we have Jason Witten at TE already.

Miles Austin has shown flashes that he could possibly be a legit #2 NFL WR and is showing enough flashes that other teams are atleast considering giving up a 2nd round DP AND big money to attempt to sign him as a FA this year.

What we have at WR right now is IMHO, already an upgrade over what we had at WR at the start of last year.
I agree Roy can be a 1. I gave him and Austin tweener status based on the discord between their potential and their performance thus far on the field as Cowboys.

The reason that Roy did not perform on the field so far as a Cowboy, is because he was playing on a bad foot in an offense he was still trying to learn.

I certainly hope that's true.

Foolish premise....right now, today, with no signings or draft picks, we still have the best WRs since Irvin was injured and up until we brought in TO.

Glenn and JG looked great on paper and had their moments, but Dallas wasted and misused JG...he was great before we traded for him, and surprise, he's been great in TB since then.

Just because they have thin resumes don't mean they can't play.

Roy Williams is and was a highly thought of player. I think he'll be fine.
Miles Austin has huge potential.
Patrick Crayton is really underappreciated because he can't shut his mouth.
Sam Hurd has even had moments.
Even Isaiah Stanback has a lot of physical ability.

And you've got to remember, you've still got Jason Witten, Martellus Bennett, Felix Jones, Marion Barber, and Tashard Choice.

The number of weapons here should not be a problem, even if they aren't all wide receivers.

The numbers he managed to put up with several different coaches and NO help at either QB or WR prove that it is.

Bring back James McKnight! Miles Austin reminds me of Alexander Wright... why didnt Miles step up last year b4 the Roy Trade? I like Miles but he had his shot... move on!

We have talent, yes, but make no mistake we do not have a true #1 any longer. That left with TO.

At very least, however, we do have a #1 receiving target, in Witten. So that is good news.

Also, I believe, Felix can become a top notch target out of the backfield IF he can stay healthy. Though that is a big "if" based on what I've seen. Actually, I don't think we'll ever get what we thought we were going to get from him. So what he is really isn't anything great in terms of what we need.

Basically I think RW will get the #1 spot, though it won't be due to competition between himself and Crayton, so it will be a cheap, undeserving assignment, based solely on what we paid for him during our delusion of what we once thought he was worth. Crayton will then be #2, with Austin cleaning up at #3. All while the true #1 we're still paying $9m this year for will most likely be scoring TDs for another team, and even possibly scoring a few of them against us. Joy. Joy. Joy.

Do 'true' #1 WR's lead the league in drops?

Hope they survive, think how much it would take to bury witten, felix, williams,
mb3, choice,bennitt,austin,crayton and hurd......

Romo started out spreading the ball around and hitting all his wrs. They where afraid to give up on routes because they never knew when he would slid around and hit them...We will be better off without TO ---all we need is Kosair to be heathly and someone to put their boot up Flozell backside to keep him motivated

He went off all pre-season.

He tore up the Packers.

Then he got injured for about a month.

From there on out he made a few big plays here and there in an offense that did a horrible job of getting their starting WR's the ball.

Other than TO? Probably not.

But TO is going to Canton.

The don't 'prove' anything. They are evidence that he could -- hell, maybe even likely will -- be a quality 1 receiver. They are not 'proof' that he will.

I like Roy, I expect him to do pretty well, if not great. But I'm not counting my chickens before they're hatched.
