Is this the worst Cowboys off season ever?

No...we had a great draft and that's really all that's happened. It's certainly not our best, but a little bit of that is because we don't have so much money to blow.

Honestly....If we win more than 6 games I'll be shocked.

And just to let you know......

I've won the pick'em championship back to back over @ the Ranch for the last 2 years.

People just can't stand the truth.

If you wanna bet the over/under @ 6 ......I'll take the under.

@ 6 wins or less...you go home for a year. Deal?

Make me a Cowboys Zone legend ....I dare ya:cool:

You made some valid points, but they were overshadowed by the complete misses. I do notice that many post are attacking you and not the points that you made. It is kinda expected with this crowd.

You got to be kidding?????????????:blind:

Obviously your a homer.....

Here is to your 4-12 season:beer1:

I agree with the person you think is a homer..back in March I wrote a post titled I love us being broke and it explains why this offseason was great....

Ill parapharse why from that post:

"Yesterday at 4pm the free agent freezy began.

To be honest IT WAS FREAKING GREAT!!! News came off the wire at 4:00 and 56 seconds that Mike Wallace was going to Miami. Fitzpatrick and Asomugha were released. Martellus Bennet went to the Bears. Paul Kruger went to the Browns and yadda yadda yadda. What did Jerry Jones do? what was the news out of valley ranch? Nothing, not a sound. We weren't interested in anybody, we weren't rumored to have visited any players. It was like America Teams didn't exist. Perfection pure perfection.

I like this scaling back, no big offseason moves and we are scaling back on defense with a simpler defense (Monte Kiffin). So what 2013 team will be is up to the players that we have on our roster and with players like Dwayne Harris, Lance Dunbar and Danny Coale wanting to step up and take someone’s job. Our first and second round pick alongside with the new coaching staff is how the 2013 cowboys will be chosen, not on a boring day in march."

Here is a dose of reality

Travis Frederick < Costa

I had Frederick rated as a 5th round prospect....Is he really any better than a healthy Costa???? I highly doubt it...And to burn your #1 pick on this guy.....LOL

Gavin Escobar > John Phillips....but only slightly

Your basically getting the same type of player...but wasted a 2nd round pick. Escobar isn't a ball busting blocker. Phillips was faster....so what are you really gaining here?

Terrance Williams < L. Robinson...

TW dropped everything in sight @ the Sr. bowl. Should have never let Robinson walk...So we are trying to Robinson a year later.

J.J. Wilcox < Sensabaugh

Your really gonna trust a guy to start that has played the position 1 season in D2 ball? Oh boy!!!!

Mike Jenkins = B.W. Webb

This is a wash....your getting the same type of player. Small...Quick feet. Doesn't like to tackle.

Joseph Randle < Felix Jones

Almost another wash....yet Felix has a gear Randle wishes he had.
Consider this a down grade.

DeVonte Holloman = Orie Lemon

Like both players....but are basically the same.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

So the question is where is the big upgrade during the draft????

An 8-8 team that did nothing in free agency- and every player picked up in the draft can be equally accounted for in free agency losses- got better how????

Please explain....

I have been quite happy with this off-season so far. In fact, the absence of real drama, despite the media's and fans deep-reaching attempts, has made it one of the best in recent years at least to me.

I fully expected us to do nothing in free agency.

Jerry had his built in excuse not to spend- the so called "5 million salary cap penalty".

The salary cap is complete BS as far as I'm concerned.

Money can be moved around to sign players. Jerry didn't have a problem signing Tony Romo to his huge contract now did he???

I said it before, but I think (fear) that your draft class this year is gonna perform better than you guys may be thinking.

Travis Frederick < Costa

This remains to be seen... Even if this is true, Frederick has position flexibility.

I had Frederick rated as a 5th round prospect....Is he really any better than a healthy Costa???? I highly doubt it...And to burn your #1 pick on this guy.....LOL

Who cares what you had him rated as?

Gavin Escobar > John Phillips....but only slightly

Again, we will see. Phillips sucked. He became popular simply because he wasn't Martellus Bennett. That's his claim to fame.

Your basically getting the same type of player...but wasted a 2nd round pick. Escobar isn't a ball busting blocker. Phillips was faster....so what are you really gaining here?

And Witten wasn't a ball busting blocker his rookie year, either. Hell, when Parcells came to Dallas he sneered at Witten, making a comment about him being one of those "receiving TE's."

And if speed is the end all be all, then I guess Witten is in trouble. Hanna is much faster.

Terrance Williams < L. Robinson...

Probably true for this year, if Robinson has his health issues under control. But, so what? Rookies aren't polished.

TW dropped everything in sight @ the Sr. bowl. Should have never let Robinson walk...So we are trying to Robinson a year later.

We weren't going to match Jax's offer for Robinson. That was an insane amount of money we'd be paying for a 3rd WR. And I was a proponent of keeping him hear, until Jax made that offer.

J.J. Wilcox < Sensabaugh
Again, you seemed confused with the concept of the whole drafting players, churning rosters, etc.

Your really gonna trust a guy to start that has played the position 1 season in D2 ball? Oh boy!!!!
Who said Wilcox was starting this year?

Joseph Randle < Felix Jones

Almost another wash....yet Felix has a gear Randle wishes he had.
Consider this a down grade.

Felix was stuck in 2nd gear most of the season. When Felix is in shape, yes, he has a gear Randle can't reach. But Felix didn't really have that gear for most of the year, so its kind of a moot point.

So the question is where is the big upgrade during the draft????

Maybe we can sign John Abraham. What are your sources saying on that?

Gotta agree with most of what Floaty is saying. I'll reserve some criticism for the draft picks though until down the road.

I read your post.......so what is your point?

Garrett is a puppet now....now that Jerry has taken his play calling duties away.

Absolutely neutered your lame duck coach.....

During the draft it was almost sickening watching Garrett tow the party line w/ his cliche's

If this doesn't spell disaster in the making....then I guess I don't know what does.

Still waiting on who is gonna end up calling plays....because I sense a power struggle going on between Garrett and Jerry.

Garrett holding out(playing his A in the hole)...towing the company line until it's too late in the year to hire a new head coach.....that if he isn't gonna call plays then he is gonna walk.

Then what would Jerry do? Turn everything over to Callahan?:lmao2:

Garrett's got one play.....and he is working it. If he is gonna go down....then he better have his fate in his own hands....and that is he is calling his own plays.

Guys, this thread's at 40 posts already, so I'll just take the opportunity to mention that there are guidelines against intentionally antagonizing the membership.

I'll also mention that there are rules against direct insults, even if you feel intentionally antagonized.

Basically, if some of the arguments all sound like floaters, it's better to flush them than it is to play around with them too much.
