Cleveland Brown Josh Cribbs shows a flash of former self at QB

The old Flash showed Friday that his arm is still golden.
Josh Cribbs, the former Kent State quarterback, took a shotgun snap after Brady Quinn split left and launched a 50-yard touchdown pass to a streaking Travis Wilson down the right side, over rookie cornerback Gerard Lawson.
Cribbs, who's been begging for chances to throw the ball, jumped up and down like a kid at a birthday party when the pony shows up.
"At the end of it, I was like 'Go Flashes,' " said Cribbs. "The personnel package is called Flash. Whenever you hear Flash, I'm at QB. I was quarterback up there [at Kent], of course, so I'm pretty sure they named the package after that."
It was Cribbs' flashiest pass of the preseason and most exciting completion since he's been here. He had one attempt in 2006 that fell incomplete and then hit Kellen Winslow on a two-point conversion in Arizona last season.
"I still got it," said Cribbs. "I told coach, 'I've still got the arm. The mechanics might be gone a little bit, but my arm is there. I've been itching - especially to throw it deep like that and not have to throw a slant route or something' "
Said Browns coach Romeo Crennel: "He just got lucky [jokingly]. It was a nice throw. He's a former quarterback and he still has that desire inside of him. We've had to suppress it a lot, but it might come out."
Wilson, who made a superb catch, was caught off guard.
"I really thought he was going to throw it way out of bounds. But he got it done," Wilson said. "We joke with him that they just ran the ball at Kent State when he was there. He got it up there pretty far and almost made me overstride too much, but it's all good.
Besides the touchdown, Cribbs had his best day of camp as a receiver, making three catches over the middle - including one leaping and one rolling - and a sideline route from Quinn over A.J. Davis. He also had a sweep around left end.
"This was an 'on' day for me," said Cribbs. "I had a lot of energy, and I'm highly motivated to come out here and play."
Wilson to start:
Wilson will get the start at receiver opposite Donte Stallworth after taking a back seat to Steve Sanders much of the week.
"They've had good competition and like I've said all along, Travis had an excellent OTA [organized team activity] and training camp so far," said Crennel. "He's shown that he's made some progress and he probably deserves the opportunity."
