After failing his drug test, is Timmy Jerrigan off our draft board?

Doubt he's off the board but I don't think he was an option at 16 anyway, he's a trade down target.

Don't know the answer, so I'm asking. Does the NFL consider a diluted sample the same as a failed drug test and now the player is enrolled into there substance abuse program....basically they now have 1 strike against them?

What's it going to be then, eh?

He didn't fail a drug test.

Depends on the team, but I think most would look at a diluted sample the same as a positive result.

Hard to tell if the Cowboys would put him in the box. The RKG theory suggests one thing, but the supply and demand of good interior DL in this draft might make them think twice. Plus it is not like the organization is exactly consistent with the character issues since we are basically waiting for Josh Brent to be able to return.

I would imagine that the Cowboys, and other teams, knew the results well before we did and they had him in a week or two back.

Now maybe that was to decide if they want to keep him on the board or not but I would imagine if he has had a clean record over his college career and this was a one time thing, they would probably over look it.

Furthermore. I don't know if anyone has said what drugs caused them to fail the test or what drugs concerned the players enough to try and flush it out with water and in turn produce a diluted sample.

I think we assume it is weed but it may very well be PEDs so they can do well at the combine and pro days.

Diluted is such a grey area. Why was it diluted would be the question? But if there is no answer than he will probably tumble a bit, mid second round...
right into our hands, which would be a steal..
I would love to trade down to later in the first, grab dee ford, pickup another third, than get tommy j in the second.

I think that a diluted test is not enough to get you in since it happened before you signed with the league. Not sure though.

Sad thing is that what this does is make you question both his intelligence and his dedication and discipline- all critical needs to be succesful in the NFL.

Diluted = fail. The guy will begin his career in the league's drug program, and subject to more frequent random testing. He's also one step closer to a 4-game suspension. It's a concern, especially when you factor the dumbness in, which could very well suggest mental addiction or any number of other negatives.

We are about to find out if Will McClay is driving the draft bus. If he is responsible for acquiring the draft talent, then passing on Jernigan in the 2nd (if he is there) would mean that the RKG format is still in place.

As I mentioned in the Lynch thread, at some point you have to take a chance on troubled (or what may be potentially troubled) talent.

What constitutes a diluted sample? He just drank a bunch of water or poured something in it?
