If these 3 are good enough they must draft one. I like Wentz myself.

Also, you can look at this as you got Collins last year, who was considered a 1st rounder, for nothing. That was basically an extra pick.

My fear is Jerry is in win now mode with Romo and will have blinders on. It will be hard to pick a player that early to sit, but it will pay off. Also, Romo could crack something else and we will get to see the kid asap. Romo is my favorite player and it's not even close, but I want a young pup to push him, and for the future. Jerry might go cheap as well and try and get cute with an RGKNEE or JF. Blahhhh

The thing about Wentz or any other QB picked at #4...

I remember when Troy was drafted... All through his senior season at UCLA, he was going to be a top draft pick. There was none of this "Well is he worth a picking at the top of the 1st round" kind of thing. That's what's scary about all 3 of these QB's being named as potential picks at #4.

Well sometimes those sure thing QBs bust as well.

Now I have made it clear that I don't want the team reaching to draft a QB but if they like a guy a lot at their slot, take him but don't just take him because you feel you are pressed to get a QB.

Oh no question!

But I think the risk is increased even more with these guys who don't appear to be "franchise QB's"... at least not yet.

9. Jared Goff, QB, California (6-4, 210, 4.82, Jr.)
Goff has good, but not great, physical traits and arm strength, but his best qualities are his intelligence, pocket mechanics and ability to self-evaluate. He undoubtedly faces a learning curve in the NFL, but he has the passing traits and mental process to find success early in his pro career.

12. Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State (6-5, 231, 4.84, RSr.)
Although his internal clock and eye use need maturing, Wentz boasts a NFL-style skill-set with his size, athleticism and arm talent. He lacks ideal experience against top competition, but his tape shows the anticipation and field vision to work through reads and make sound decisions.

29. Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis (6-6, 230, 4.95, RJr.)
A late bloomer, Lynch needs mechanical work and on-field reps, but he checks boxes for his size, athleticism, arm talent and appetite for football. Although his pro transition requires time, the ingredients are there for Lynch to develop into a NFL starter.

The cult of Carson Wentz is strong and growing more so by the day in Dallas. Looks like we can add the always perceptive Bob Sturm as at least a provisional member.

I confess, after watching just about every play he snapped in 2015, I am really excited about Carson Wentz. It is difficult to separate the top 3 QBs in this draft right now, because the spring process is a long one where we turn over every rock. But as I sit here a week before the Senior Bowl - where the Cowboys are trying to be his coach for a week - I can definitely see a scenario where the spring objective for the local team in the draft is to make sure that the FCS Championship game isn't the only time he visits Frisco, Texas.

Oh, and change that "trying to be" to "will be".
