Isn't Moore still practice squad eligible?

Just ask yourself this question: "Which of the two, if waived, would be snatched up in a heartbeat?" Nobody want Kellen Moore. After what Rush has shown in the preseason, you'd better believe he would be gone in a New York minute. Waive Moore & put him on the PS. It's safer & smarter.

I think that is the likely scenario, but honestly I'm fine with either scenario of keeping Moore or cutting him and making Rush the #2.

I don't think Rush is quite as good as some think, though he has probably shown enough that they could play him as a rookie. They certainly have the experience giving Dak a crash course as rookie (though Dak is a freak of nature).

But on the other hand Moore is better than people think. His top target last night was Lance Lenoir last night, who is somewhere between 8th and 10th on the depth chart, if his job is to throw to Dez and Witten in between handouts to Elliot he will be just fine.
Likely correct, but I would really like to see him with the starters for a series or two. Unlikely we will have lightning strike twice, but there's always that possibility.

Did somebody say since we're a contender we should be conservative and keep Moore? Wth does Moore have to do with us winning a super bowl? We aren't winning any games with him. Lol

I said it. You need to be prepared for injuries and although Moore doesn't have the potential most here thinks Rush has he does have time in grade. You can poo on his athletic skills but he very well has more upstairs at this point than Rush. That's important. They can game plan around his skills up to a point.

I'm not making a case for Moore as I'd cut him but I doubt the team sees it the way the average fan does. And if I was making that decision I'd likely NOT cut him.

But we'll see. He keeps stinkin' it up and he'll cut himself.

Agree, I think we clearly have something in Rush. Even if he only turns into a quality backup (at a low price) its a big win for the scouting department. Also there are plenty of examples of a kid like this developing a couple of years and then being traded for a draft pick.

Agreed although I'm convinced Rush has more upside by a good bit. Being a SB contender changes things to a more conservative approach at QB. My guess is they keep three now.

I'm certain Rush has more upside, but the issue for this season is "will your backup drive the bus or will he cause you to lose all by himself"?

We know the answer to that with Moore but not with Rush (yet). I think the most likely scenario is keeping 3 QBs, especially with the two spots open by suspensions to Irving and Moore.

Because the PS QB can dress and play in an emergency as the third QB. That's why. He can also chart etc on the sideline. He doesn't need to coach just dress as the #3. And that doesn't count against the gameday roster.

I did not know they changed that to include a PS player. I thought they could designate one of the 6 inactive as the 3rd emergency QB. Not a PS player.

I believe you have to play in 6 games to be ineligible for the practice squad. If Kellen Moore is still eligible I think Dallas should cut him and put him on the practice squad and keep Rush. I don't think anyone would pick up Kellen on waivers if he is cut.
if we cut him we just need to move on and not keep trying to develop him.

You may have misunderstood. I don't want Moore. At all. But, putting him on the PS makes absolutely no sense to me. He's not going to get better. He doesn't need reps and/or time to learn the offense. He's certainly not going to push anyone else on the PS.

Well, he could serve as the 3rd string backup without taking up a roster spot on the 53. He isn't very good but he does know the offense. That's important.

He has played poorly enough that the Cowboys are probably wringing their hands over his level of play. He throws the ball like Brad Johnson and we know how that experiment worked out for us.

I bet the team is surprised how little zip he really has on the ball left in his arm. It's really bad. Bad enough one could surmise he is throwing it badly on purpose. Lol.

You'll have to talk to the FO and Coaches as they seem to see him as a viable backup.
