I said back in the preseason, by the 5th game we'd have a pretty good idea what kind of team we've got this year. I'm even more encouraged by the fact that injuries to Romo, Dez, Scandrick, Tyron Smith, La'El Collins and others hasn't stopped the winning. In previous years injuries like these would have deep sixed our season by now.
Instead, we've had great drafting and a bevy of younger guys ready to step up and play at a high level. Last year when Romo went down there was a HUGE dropoff at QB. That hasn't happened this year, thanks to Dak Prescott.
The roster is actually deep enough right now that there's no need to rush players recovering from injuries back out there to try to save the season. Of course, the first example of that is Dak filling in for Romo, but there are many others.
For instance, Anthony Brown is playing so well at the nickel, there's no reason to rush Scandrick back out there until his hamstring is fully healed. Leary & Chaz Green played well enough respectively that there's was no urge to rush Tyron Smith or La'El Collins back out there.
And Brice Butler has made enough solid contributions in his role, with others like Terrance Williams, Cole Beasely & Jason Witten stepping up their efforts, that there's no compelling urgency to shove Dez Bryant back onto the field this weekend.
The Eagles Will The The Real Test
One thing that does stand out to me looking at the standings and the #'s above, is that the Eagles defense is indeed for real. Not only are they leading our division with only 51 points allowed in 4 games, they are leading the entire NFL. I know they had the bye week, but go ahead and scan the standings here:

The Seahawks, who have also played just 4 games, are in 2nd place in points given up with 54. 3rd is the Vikings with only 63 pts allowed this season. Pats are 5th with 74.
A whopping 21 teams have already had their defenses give up 100+ points thus far this season. Only 11 teams are below 100 points, and the Cowboys are #10 with 91 points surrendered over 5 games.
That first game with the Eagles is shaping up to be an epic showdown.
