I'd rather get the players we want where we want them instead of just taking whatever falls to us or reaching for someone too high.

only one problem Jerry is at the controls.

Oh yeah, I was fuming at first too. I'll admit, mostly for selfish reasons. I wanted some instant gratification. I wanted to see a name. I wanted reason to cheer or jeer. Instead, I got a big fat nothing.

We have that much in common, LOL... only I worked a graveyard shift the night before, couldn't sleep because of the anticipation yesterday, now I'm at work again with absolutely NO sleep...

So I have more reason than most to be ticked... :D

I'm not convinced our approach was the best way to go. But I'm not naiive enough to think I know how it will pan out.

You're a pretty fart smeller, errr smart feller...

Edit: Though I will agree with those frustrated about the trade on this issue: We clearly got raked on the deal. Even if we convert those two picks into future HOFers, Buffalo got a steal.

When I first heard the trade, I was certain that Roscoe Parrish had to have been a throw in. :D

I think they'll move around some more, trade some 5ths or 6ths to maybe get another 3rd or 4th.

I disagree. I think Adam's spot-on.

We have five (?) picks in the top two rounds tomorrow, but what if there's 18 players left on our board that we have graded significantly higher than the rest?

Maybe we stay put with our top pick, but bundle up two others to move back into the top 18 of tomorrow's day to pluck another premium player as per our board?

You risk too much just standing pat all day. Plus, standing pat all afternoon more likely lends itself to using all 12 picks. And I don't really see why we'd want to do that.

Ill guarantee you Dallas will not draft 12 players tomorrow.

But he's got a capable navigator, at least based on last year's results.

We've got a bunch of picks tomorrow before it even gets to the point in the draft where we got Tashard Choice (122nd) and Orlando Scandrick (143rd) last year.

And Jerry in his newser made the point that:

Special teamers tend to be the baller, high motor guys that overcome the odds and overachieve over time, climbing the depth chart at skill positions.

Brock Marion. Keith Davis. etc etc.

Jerry was preparing us for a bumpy ride this weekend.

Another thing that Jerry hinted at was that pick 101 might be one that other teams would covet, so don't be surprised if that pick is involved in some kind of a trade...
Has anyone told Jerry that the 4th round doesn't start day 2 anymore?

I guarantee you if you gave every team in the league the option, they'd prefer the 69th pick over the 101st every time. I don't follow how Jones - and evidently some others, too - have assigned some sort of mystical value to that pick, as if a top 10 player get warped back into the draft at that point.

SB is right: they flat out said nothing would go on SAt. Seperate article on it where JJ was quoted and I was going to cut and paste it but...what's the use...people are set in their thoughts already. Today is a big day for this franchise...I'm a little skeptical but perfectly willing to let the dust settle and see where we're at. Hopefully the next Witten (3rd rounder) Barber and Choice (4th rounders), Scandrick (5th rounder) and Ratliff (7th rounder) will fall to us: they are out there, we just have to hope we will get them.

I strongly agree with the protrade crowd for today. IF a guy you have high on your board is attainable and someone else has a need at that position, that's where you trade up and use your excess picks in rounds 5-7. No brainer IMO................

Did you miss last years draft? Dallas got the "wardaddy" pick from Miami and parlayed it into Choice and Scandrick. So yeah, it still has a lot of value.

With the exception of missing out on Unger, I'm not all that disappointed with the trade-down. I question the value they got for the pick, but if there really are that many guys still available that they have 2nd Round grades on, I'm good with it.

The fact that a lot of the players that I was hoping they get - and figured they'd have to use one, maybe 2 2nd Round Picks to get - having those players still available makes it easier to take.

The guys I would have liked us to draft yesterday include:

WR Nicks - pipe dream
S McBath - reach?
C Unger - missed it by || that much
S/CB Sean Smith - he was my consolation prize when the other guys above were all gone.
