It appears Rob Reiner & Wife were stabbed to death

Metal Illness and drug use - such a terrible combination.
Sometimes with certain people - there is little hope of improvement. I know that sounds horrible but it's a reality. Having these issues with access financially and locale is the ultimate trifecta....it's just a dark spiraling downfall that typically ends in tragedy.

I'm completely horrified. I grew up watching Rob Reiner as Meathead on All in the Family. People who knew him said he was a great guy. I wish I could have met him. And to be murdered by your own son (allegedly) -- how awful, and the wife was murdered too.

Rest In Piece. If only they were just Mostly Dead. Miracle Max might have been able to help. (Sorry about the joke, it's how I'm processing this one.)

Another sad story. RIP Mr. and Mrs. Reiner. I understand the son had a lot of problems. Being a parent never ends, especially when your kids have mental or emotional issues.

Well, I guess in this case, being a parent did end.

I just learned that he was once married to Penny Marshall.

Talk about a Brother Sister team...Gary and Penny Marshall.

Like you, I never knew that Reiner was married to her.

Imagine Gary, Penny and Karl Reiner sitting around talking about making movies.

Sad.

Couldn't imagine being killed by your own son like that.

Knew he had some dug/mental illness issues, but I have to wonder if Rob gave him so ultimatum or cut him out of a will.

Ultimatum after 18 stints in rehab? LOL

I don't know, it's easy to criticize on the outside, and I would never want to deal with this as a parent, but how many times does your kid go to rehab and you still let him live at home?

I'm guessing the normal person who can't afford rehab maybe has 1-2 court ordered rehab visits and then meets an unfortunate end. Having money only prolonged the inevitable.

I haven't looked too much into the amount of times for rehab, just seen titles about his issues. Don't even know if he has been clean for a bit or was relapsing etc...

Did he even live at their home, or just had access?

I'm sure being affluent allowed them to fund the rehabs multiple times and still I assume support him. From what I've seen around here, rehab is just an insurance scam at most places. Probably want the patients to relapse to continue funding.

Possibly, but not even necessary. As someone with a family member who is bipolar, I see him blaming his father all the time for all of his ills even though his circumstances are of his own doing. I can only imagine how bad it would get if drugs were added to the mix.

Penny's daughter who Rob adopted was one of the girls in A League of their Own. She was the dark haired darker complected one (betty spaghetti). In photos they showed of the brother and the rest of the family she had blond hair.
