There is nothing on this team character or guts wise that makes me think they will make it outta the first round.

That San Francisco team also had a core group of veterans at key position who were accustomed to winning in the post-season.

Next. :)

I will credit JJ.

He spoke out about change... finally.

Hopefully he pressures everyone on the coaching staff into changing gears a bit.

He needs to start by removing himself as GM. Good owner, horrid GM.

In 1988, the 49ers struggled. At one point, they were 6-5 and in danger of missing the playoffs but rose to defeat the Washington Commanders on a Monday Night, eventually finishing the season at 10-6. They gained a measure of revenge by thrashing the Minnesota Vikings 34-9 in the first round. The 49ers then traveled to Chicago's Soldier Field, where the chill factor at gametime was 26 degrees below zero. They defeated the Chicago Bears 28-3 in a NFC Championship game upset.

The win over the Bears gave the 49ers their third trip to the Super Bowl: Super Bowl XXIII, in Miami. However, the game was tied 3-3 at halftime, the 49ers having missed a few scoring opportunities. A late Cincinnati field goal seemed to seal the victory, but they left too much time for Joe Montana to work his magic. He drove the team 92 yards for the winning touchdown on a pass to John Taylor with only 34 seconds left.
we got our own Joe. (or so we did a few weeks ago).

Remember now...a young, healthy team that trains to get strong!

Those are the teams that need to be STRONG when they go on the road...where it's cold...at the top.

Three little things that should be pointed out...

1. Montana had won 2 SB's and was a 10 year vet by then.

2. Most of those players on that team had a ton of playoff experience.

3. SF arguably had the best coaching staff in NFL history in 1988.

This team has no nuts and no leadership. They may grab one playoff win, but I don't expect anything beyond that.

That's to bad that you don't "expect anything beyond"...

You Must Expect...

Because if you don't expect...you have nothing to look for...

Expectations are good for you! Watch and see...

they also had a bunch of second year guys on defense including one who wore 94. you need to concentrate on the positives man.

4. Since the 49ers won their division, they had a bye week and a home playoff game in 1988.

Should I go on?
