Well, if McClain's house burned down, and he went to Turkey, something is seriously wrong with his thought process.

What are you talking about? What does anything in your post have to do with this thread's subject?

Might want to check your own though process. Don't see how a man spends his money or time, whether it's Jones or McClain, has anything to do with a house fire or a person's ability to think.

As far as the trade...it turned out to be a great move...props to Jerry for pulling off the deal and props to McClain for the season he's had.

Did you read the entire 2nd paragraph?

from Todd archer-if its inaccurate then blame him.

IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys could end up giving the Baltimore Ravens nothing in the trade for linebacker Rolando McClain.

According to multiple sources, if McClain, who was acquired Tuesday, does not make the team or is not on the Cowboys' 53-man roster for five games or 46-man game-day roster for three games in 2014, then the Ravens will not receive any compensation.

As it stands right now, the trade calls for the Cowboys to give up their seventh-rounder in 2016 if McClain is on the 53-man roster for five games or 46-man roster for three games only if their pick is better than the Ravens' pick in the round. If it is, then the teams will swap selections. If the Ravens finish with a worse record in 2014, then there is no swap.
If McClain plays in 50 percent of the defensive snaps in 2014, then the Ravens would receive the Cowboys' sixth-round pick in 2015 and the Cowboys would receive Baltimore’s seventh-round pick in 2015. McClain has not played since November 2012, but the Cowboys could look at him as a replacement for Sean Lee, who is out for the year with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He could also be in the mix as a strongside linebacker.

It should read "Ravens get 6th RD pick for Roland McClain and a 7th" if they really want to be accurate.

That's right.
It didn't even fully cost us a 6th....just the difference between a 6th and 7th. That's next to nothing.

Did anyone else read this?

What are the odds of him NOT winning comeback player of the year. It is an absolute lock. And for a 6th rounder. Jerry Jones is an underrated GM.

Trading next year's 6th RD pick for Rolando McClain is going to be a steal.

IRVING, Texas – The Dallas Cowboys will be more than happy to give up their sixth-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens in 2015 for what Rolando McClain has meant to their success in 2014.

Because McClain will play in more than 50 percent of the defensive snaps, the Cowboys will fork over their sixth rounder to the Ravens, while getting Baltimore’s seventh-round pick in return, as per the July trade between the clubs.

The Cowboys made a low-risk deal that could have cost them nothing in return. In desperate need to find a replacement for Sean Lee, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in May, the Cowboys simply hoped McClain could regain some of the form that made him the eighth pick of the 2010 draft for the Oakland Raiders. He had retired twice and his time with the Raiders did not go well.

Jason Garrett reached out to his former boss and McClain’s coach at Alabama, Nick Saban. Jerry Jones reached out to McClain while on vacation in Turkey.

It could not have worked out any better.

If the Ravens miss the playoffs, then the difference between the Cowboys 6th and the Ravens 7th will be about 3/4 of a round.

I don't thonk Ro will be an easy resign; he's not going to play for peanuts, not even for Dallas. After the big dollars given to Lee, tying up the money Ro deserves and will command at the same position is not the given most fans seem to think, especially with our other free agents. We hope to build this team to something special, but we may be losing some key parts in the offseason. We can't keep extending Romo, but his contract for 2015 is insane.

When you get hit by McClain, you're going down. That guy will murder you right into the ground. I've seen him outside of Football and the dude is beast all day, everyday.

Looking at this from a ravens prospective . ..... Teetering on missing the playoffs and now getting to watch RO and the boys in the dance while snuggling up to a big fat 6th rounder......bet there has been a few " Ozzie got fleeced by Jerry. " threads over there..

Can you imagine how freaking awesome Ro would be with a good DL in front of him? This team needs to make sure they don't let difference makers walk for the next few years,,,

If and when Josh Brent gets healthy and on the playing field, thats the one player that will make McClain's job alot easier. just ask Ray Lewis what Heloti Nata meant to him.

While the Cowboys certainly got the better end of the deal, I don't think anyone looking at this situation from the outset would say that it could have been different for the Ravens. McClain had "retired", and indicated that he wasn't going to play again. I think the endorsement of Garrett by Nick Saban made all of the difference. To a large extent, if Dallas didn't trade for him, I don't think Rolando McClain would have returned. From that standpoint, with an asset that people couldn't be sure would play again, or end up quitting again, the Ravens weren't exactly dealing from a position of strength. They got what they could for him. That being said, the Cowboys won the trade hands down.
