that we have not had solid play from the Center position since the stop - gap 47 year old Ray Donaldson.

- IMO - Center is where your running game starts i.e - Kevin Mawae & Curtis Martin - Step & Emmitt - Webster & Franco etc etc ...

And yet ...we roll stiff after stiff after stiff in....IMO Al Johnson is no different from Tyson Walter.

Very eyebrow raising, I mean we're talking nearly a decade of crap play at that position.

Yeh and Clay Shiver showed us how much we truely missed Step. So much so we brought him back. Stepnoski was not overrated.

Step overrated, are you crazy? He was one of the best. I don't like Al Johnson tho. Get manhandled too much for me. Step was small but tough and physical. He never got pushed around. We do miss a good solid center tho.... It's been a looooong time...

Johnson and Gurode are both much better than Tyson Walter was. Center probably has been our most consistent, mistake-free position on the offensive line this season -- even with all of Gurode's gaffes.

DT combinations like Ted Washington and Warren Sapp will make interior Offensive lines look bad all season. Ted Washington is HUGE and I'd venture cannot be moved by any center one on one in the entire league, on a run play.


But I agree to an extent because 74 year old Ray Donalson was a Stepnoski above anything we have fielded at the position in recent memory.

Gurodes main problem at guard was discepline. i dont think i can remember him getting flagged yet this year. he is much bigger than johnson and a better center IMO. he should be our starter.
