It's 3rd and goal at the 8, you can have any WR, who do you choose?

1. Jerry Rice
2. Randy Moss
3. Michael Irvin
4. Terrell Owens
5. Calvin Johnson
6. Dez Bryant
7. Other

I'm picking Calvin Johnson based on his skill set and size. The speed, the vertical leap, the hands, the power, all these things are superior. Megatron will one day be widely considered the GOAT.

Saw a twitter war tonight because of Jerry Rice tweeting to a random guy (who said Randy Moss was the GOAT) to wake up. Was pretty comical. But it got me thinking about the GOAT, and yes Rice was amazing and all that, won three Super Bowls, etc. but the skill set I see in Megatron is superior to Rice, or anyone else, for that matter.

Megatron...................Jerry Rice runner up choice.

I'd take Calvin above the others. Big physical WR, great hands, great body control, crisp routes, and he can out jump any CB in the league. Of course that same description basically fits all those other guys you mentioned :D, I just think he does it better.

That's funny Jerry Rice is still stroking his ego though, does it really bother him someone doesn't view him as the GOAT? Without a doubt he was a great WR, but he benefited tremendously from HoF QBs throwing him the ball. I've always wondered what the type of numbers Moss would've had if a HoF QB threw him the ball for his whole career, probably would've had a lot more records than he does now.

it's funny, that people are so hyped up on calvin after this past week. He looks the part, 6-5, soft hands, big vert. But even playing in today's cupcake league, he doesn't even have HALF the touchdown totals of terrell owens, randy moss or jerry rice. not even chris carter.

On the 2nd to last play of that detroit drive, I was so sure he was going to score when i saw jakar hamilton getting over late. Instead, 5-11 190 lb hamilton hits calvin johnson (6-5 235 lb) and he goes down like a sack of flour. When CJ had his 200 targets last year, only 5 of them went for touchdowns. Sometimes you have to look beyond the measurables and just go by production.

For the record, the best RZ target was randy moss. It is not even close, given the trash qbs he's made look good throughout his years in the league. Jerry was incredible, but the best boundary receivers ive ever seen were chris carter and randy moss. Only moss could jump 48 inches

I seriously doubt Johnson will ever be considered as good as Rice. I really can't imagine what it's going to take for anyone to do what Rice did. Johnson is already 28 years old and has 61 touchdowns. Rice had 197. Johnson has 8600 yards, Rice has nearly 23,000. And so on with every receiving record you can think of. Calvin has already earned more than Jerry ever did and will not be out there playing what is becoming perceived more and more as a dangerous game until he's 42. He is also off to a pretty crappy start to even coming close to matching Jerry's teams in the winning and Super Bowl departments. So no, I don't see it.

But for your scenario, I would definitely take Calvin. Jerry wasn't much of a jump ball guy,

Calvin will be top 5 when he retires, but no way he will be #1

3rd and 8, give me Jerry Rice every time.

.

Considering this isn't an age thing. So we can have a young Rice and in his prime, as with any receiver on the list

wait, Rice isn't a jump ball kinda guy...so, 3rd and goal from the 8 would NOT have me choosing Rice...Rice always got open and probably caught more 20 yd variety TD's in open space, but to say that he would be better in a short environment like that isn't exactly right...also, who is throwing the pass? Do they have chemistry with the list that is provided by the OP in this scenario? I am not trying to be argumentative, but those types of things matter...if Tony is throwing the pass, then most go un-caught because the OC of the Cowboys wouldn't throw to anyone on that list....but, if all of them had their own QB throwing to them, then I take Irvin because of his physical nature and Troy's trust in him

too many factors

Easy, throw a slant to Rice. Who said it has to be a jump ball? If that's the case, it should be CJohnson, Moss, Dez.

The correct answer would be Moss or Calvin. Both guys make an easy redzone target to throw the ball to.

This isn't a question of who the best all time receiver is

Touchdown Tony Curtis.

In all seriousness, if its a jump ball, give me Moss.
